Abstract

Denna kandidatuppsats i landsbygdsutveckling har som syfte att studera hur landsbygden representeras i två livsstilsmagasin; Drömhem & Trädgård och Lantliv.
För att kunna besvara uppsatsens syfte utförs en kvantitativ och kvalitativ innehållsanalys, samt en semiotisk bildanalys på materialet. Detta utförs för att kunna urskilja rådande och florerande tankefigurer kring landsbygden, som både medvetet och omedvetet kan påverka människors föreställningar och agerande och som i sin tur kan vara avgörande för den svenska landsbygdens framtid. Den centrala slutsatsen i den här studien är att landsbygden framställs som förskönande och idyllisk, vilket kan sammanfattas med begreppet och teorin kring den lantliga idyllen. I min studie byggs den lantliga idyllen upp och bekräftas av fem sub-tankefigurer och tidskrifternas bilder, dessa bidrar till att den lantliga idyllen inte är tillgänglig för alla.

This bachelor thesis in rural development aims to study how rural areas are represented in two lifestyle magazines; Drömhem & Trädgård and Lantliv.
To fulfil the purpose of the essay a quantitative and qualitative content analysis, as well as a semiotic analysis of the material are performed. This is done in order to identify current and flourishing ‘mental constructions’ about the rural, both consciously and unconsciously influencing people's images and behaviour, which in turn may be crucial for the Swedish rural future. The central conclusion of this study is that the rural front is as euphemistic and idyllic, which can be summarized with the concept and the theory of the rural idyll. In my study builds rural idyll up and confirmed by the five sub-mental constructions and the magazines pictures, which contributes to the rural idyll is not available to everyone.
