Abstract

Under mitten av det senaste decenniet, 2015–2016, ökade tillströmningen av migranter i Sverige till följd av flyktingkrisen. Det har lett till högre krav på insatser och arbetsbelastningen kring dessa frågor. En kommun som varit aktiv i flyktingmottagande och etableringsprocessen av nyanlända är Hedemora kommun som har ett gott rykte för deras arbete. I denna studie undersöks det hur man har arbetat med dessa frågor i Hedemora samt hur det är att som immigrant bosätta sig i kommunen efter uppehållstillstånd. Syftet är att ta reda på vad det är som gör att Hedemora ses som ett föredöme i frågan. Studien är baserad på kvalitativa intervjuer med asylimmigranter, kommunens mångfaldsstrateg samt en person som arbetar för Röda korset i kommunen. Resultatdelen presenteras i tematiska kapitel. Avslutningsvis diskuteras kommunens arbetssätt där samverkan med civilsamhället är centralt. Utifrån de historier som de intervjuade asylimmigranterna berättat dras slutsatsen att förmågan av att skaffa sig ett socialt kapital är betydelsefullt och viktigt för en framgångsrik etablerings- och integreringsprocess.

In the middle of last decade, 2015–2016, there was an increase in the number of immigrants coming to Sweden due to the immigration crisis. This has led to a higher demand on the efforts and stakes in these issues. One municipality that has been active in the reception of refugees as well as the process of establishment of immigrants is Hedemora, which has a good reputation for their work in these matters. This study examines how Hedemora has approached and managed the reception and integration of immigrants as well as what it means to be an immigrant and settle down in Hedemora after getting their asylum approved. The purpose is to examine what makes Hedemora viewed as a good example in the matter. The study is based on qualitative interviews with immigrants, the municipality's diversity strategist and a person working for the Red Cross in the municipality. The results are presented in thematic chapters. Finally, the municipality's working methods are discussed, where collaboration with civil society is central. Based on the stories told by the interviewed immigrants, the conclusion in this paper is that the ability to raise social capital is crucial and important for a successful establishment and integration process.
