Abstract

Behovet av avverkningsresurser förväntas att öka och redan idag är det svårt att rekrytera skogsmaskinförare till drivningsentreprenad. Det ställs stora kun-skapskrav på att beakta såväl ekologiska som sociala värden i samband med avverkning samtidigt som priserna på drivningstjänster pressas vid upphand-ling. Skogsmaskinförarnas kunskaper och sätt att arbeta påverkar i stor ut-sträckning förutsättningarna att driva en lönsam drivningsentreprenad. Därför spelar skogsmaskinförarnas kompetenser en viktig roll i fortsatt utvecklings-arbete med att tillfredsställa behovet av avverkningsresurser i framtiden.

Syftet med studien var att ta fram en kompetensprofil för nyutbildade skogsmaskinförare, baserat på analyser om när certifierade drivningsentre-prenörer förväntade att kompetenserna bör vara införskaffade, samt att jäm-föra om det fanns skillnader i svarsbeteende mellan olika kategorier av re-spondenter. Studien genomfördes som en webbaserad enkätundersökning där olika potentiella kompetenser analyserades genom deskriptiva analyser.

Huvuddelen av kompetenserna förväntas vara införskaffade redan vid an-ställningstillfället alternativt inom en månad från anställningstillfället. En kompetens förväntades inom tre månader från anställningstillfället. Inga sig-nifikanta skillnader i svarsbeteende mellan olika kategorier av respondenter kunde påvisas.

Kompetensprofilen speglar dagens förutsättningar och krav som finns, och bör därför revideras i takt med fortsatt utveckling inom drivningsentreprenad. Förväntningarna på nyutbildade skogsmaskinförare är höga ur den skogliga näringens perspektiv. På kort sikt finns ett behov av att studera den utbild-ningsnivå som erbjuds idag, i syfte att jämföra mot den kunskapsnivå som efterfrågas av branschen. På längre sikt är det viktigt att identifiera faktorer som gör att skogsmaskinförare känner trivsel i arbetet och motiveras till att fortsätta utvecklas, för att möta efterfrågan av kompetent arbetskraft.

In a nearby future, there is an increasing need for logging services. It is al-ready difficult for harvesting contractors to recruit new forestry machine op-erators to preform logging services. There are hard demands in harvesting regarding ecological and social values and at the same time there is a will to reduce the cost for the logging service by the forestry companies. These as-pects affect the ability for the harvesting contractor to run a profitable busi-ness. Because of the harvesting service is priced by preform, the forestry ma-chine operator directly affects the profitability of the harvesting service. Therefore, the competences of the forestry machine operators pay an im-portant role in further research and development to match the increased need for logging services.

The purpose of this paper was to compile a competence profile for newly educated forestry machine operators, based on analysis of when the certified harvesting contractors expect the competences to be acquired. Another pur-pose was to compare attitudes between different categories of respondents. Collection of data was made by a web-based survey and descriptive analysis of different potential competences was made to specify when a competence was expected to be acquired.

Main part of the competences was expected already at the moment of the employment, and some competences was expected within a month after the moment of employment. One competence was expected within three months after the moment of employment. No significant distinctions between differ-ent categories of respondents were observed.
The competence profile reflects the abilities and demands of today and should therefore be constantly adjusted to match future development of log-ging services. The expectations on newly educated forestry machine operators are high in the perspective of the harvesting contractors. In short term there is a need to study if today´s level of education for forest machine operators meet the expectation of competence from the harvesting contractors. In a long-term perspective, it is important to identify factors that affects the moti-vation and well-being of the forestry machine operators to meet the increased need of skilled labor in the future.
