Abstract

Uppsatsens syfte är att undersöka natursynen i Malmö stads översiktsplan och vilka konsekvenser rådande natursyn kan tänkas få för den biologiska mångfalden i Malmö. Metoden för att besvara frågeställningen är diskursanalys, dvs. en form av kvalitativ textanalys. Innehållet i översiktsplanen har analyserats efter två olika kategorier: natursyn samt natursyn kopplad till biologisk mångfald.
Synen på naturen i Malmö stads översiktsplan tenderar att spegla åt en antropocentrisk natursyn där värdet av naturen främst domineras av mänskliga intressen. Motsatsen till en antropocentrisk natursyn är en ickeantropocentrisk natursyn där naturens egna värde dominerar. Översiktsplanen nämner att vår förmåga att förvalta ekosystemen är avgörande för våra möjligheter att utnyttja ekosystemtjänster även i framtiden. Kapaciteten hos ekosystemtjänster kan därmed inte förbrukas till en nivå som innebär att framtida generationers möjligheter att bruka dessa går förlorad. För bevarandet av den biologiska mångfalden är fenomenet grundläggande, hinner inte naturen återskapa utnyttjade resurser riskerar ekosystemens produktionsförmåga att begränsas eller förloras. Dock finns det en risk att översiktsplanens tendenser åt en antropocentrisk natursyn kan resultera i att det genetiskt utbytet begränsas och att vitaliteten hos vissa populationer därmed försämras. En minskad vitalitet hos populationer kan vidare resultera i att målet om en hållbar utveckling i Malmös översiksplan kan bli svår att uppnå.

The purpose of this thesis was to examine the sight of nature of Malmö city översiktsplan and which consequences the prevailing view of nature may had on biodiversity in Malmö. The method used was discourse analysis which is a form of qualitative text analysis. The contents of the översiktsplan was analyzed for two different categories: sight of nature and sight of nature related to biodiversity.
The sight of nature in översiktsplanen tend to reflect the anthropocentric sight of nature where the value of nature is dominated by human interests unlike a non-antropocentric sight of nature where natures own value dominates. Översiktsplanen mentions that our ability to manage ecosystems is critical to our ability to utilize ecosystem services in the future. The ecosystem services can therefore not be consumed at a level that will unsecure the needs for future generations. For the preservation of biodiversity this is a fundamental phenomenon, if nature does not have the time to recover used resources there is a risk that the ecosystem productivity will be limited or lost. However, there is a risk that if översiktsplanen is based on an anthropocentric view of nature the result can be that the genetic exchange is limited and that the vitality of some populations will thereby be deteriorated. A reduction vitality of populations can also result in the goal of sustainable development in Malmö översiksplan can be difficult to achieve.
