Abstract

De svenska grisproducenterna blir färre och färre i Sverige. De ekonomiska förhållandena är ansträngda och det finns flera parametrar som spelar in på denna negativa utveckling. Lagstiftningen och slakterierna har makt över grisproducenternas ekonomi och den utländska konkurrensen påverkar också. Kött produceras under billigare förhållanden i andra länder och innebär sämre djurskydd- och välfärd. Effekten av myndighetsutövandet och implementeringen av lagstiftningen beror på utformandet av lagstiftning och riktlinjer för myndighetsutövande. I praktiken finns risken för rättsosäkerhet då grisproducenterna upplever en brist på kompetens och kunskap hos tjänstemännen. Fokus i studien ligger på hur producenten upplever sin verklighet, vilka svårigheter och möjligheter man ser för en fortsatt produktion och utveckling av dito.
Studien bygger på semi-strukturerade djupintervjuer av fem producenter i tre olika län med fyra övergripande ämnen som frågegrund: bakgrund, utvecklingsarbete, framtidstro samt tillit och förtroende. Resultatet pekar åt att det finns en handfull faktorer som behöver förändras för att den svenska grisproduktionen ska kunna inte bara utvecklas utan över huvud taget finnas kvar.

Swedish pig producers are getting fewer and fewer in numbers. Their economic situation is strained and there are several parameters that account for the negative development. Legislations and slaughterhouses have power over the pig producers’ economy. The international competition with cheaper pork products on the Swedish market from other countries produced under cheaper circumstances also has an impact. Cheap meat means lower standard of animal welfare. State and county officials affect the social environment. The exercise of public authority depends in theory on the legislative drafting and the guidelines for its implementation. In practice, the pig producers feel that there is a risk of legal uncertainty, as the pig producers are uncertain of the officials’ competence and knowledge.
The focus in this study is on how pig producers perceive and experience their reality and what opportunities and difficulties that lay ahead.
The method for this study is semi-structured interviews of five producers in three different counties: Värmland, Örebro and Halland. There are four main topics as a query basis: background, development work, future predictions and beliefs, trust and confidence. The result point towards that there is a handful of factors that are in need of a change in order for the Swedish production not only to develop but to remain at all.
