Abstract

Den här kandidatuppsatsen inom ämnet landsbygdsutveckling syftar till att beskriva arbetet och organisationen kring tre utvecklingsbolag på Gotland. Utvecklingsbolagen har uppstått som en motrörelse mot avbefolkning och nedläggning av företag på landsbygden.
Människorna i den geografiska avgränsningen jag undersökt har tagit problemet i egna händer och startat lokala utvecklingsbolag där lokalbefolkningen köper aktier och är på så sätt med och bidrar till utveckling på landsbygden. Bolagens syfte är att investera i projekt och verksamheter som de anser gynnar ortens möjligheter att vara en attraktiv plats att bo och verka i.
Med hjälp av tre begrepp, samhällsentreprenörskap, organisation och nätverk, tillsammans med insamlad empiri beskrivs och exemplifieras bolagens organisering och arbete. Bolagen arbetar på ett unikt sätt med tre viktiga begränsningar inskrivna i bolagsordningen, begränsad rösträtt, begränsad aktieutdelning och strikt hembudsklausul. Det aktieägarna får ut av att äga aktier är inte möjligheten till vinstutdelning på aktier, istället är det en möjlighet att vara med och finansiera investeringar i den lokala orten. Investeringarna leder förhoppningsvis till minskad utflyttning, ökad företagsamhet och till en bibehållen eller ökad service på orten. Utvecklingsbolagen vill arbeta för en levande landsbygd, vilket de gör genom en unik modell med utgångspunkt i det lokala då majoriteten av aktieägarna bor eller har koppling till bolagens verksamhetsområde.

This bachelor thesis in the subject of rural development aimed at describing the work and organization around three development companies on the island Gotland. Development companies have emerged as a counter-movement against depopulation and abandonment of rural businesses. The people in the geographic area I have examined have taken this problem into their own hands and started local development companies where the local people buy stocks and is thus with and contribute to rural development. The companies' purpose is to invest in projects and activities that they find useful for local opportunities to be an attractive place to live and work in. With the help of three concepts; social entrepreneurship, organization and networking, along with the collected empirical data the companies' organization and work are described and exemplified. The companies are working in a unique way with three important limitations written into the articles of association, limited voting rights, restricted stock dividend and rigorous pre-emption clause. The shareholders don't get dividends on the shares in money, instead it is an opportunity to co-finance investments in the local resort. The investments will hopefully lead to reduced out-migration, increased entrepreneurial activity and to maintain and increase service in the community. Development companies work for a living countryside, which they do through a unique model based on the local area where the majority of shareholders live or have access to the companies' activities.
