Abstract

Syftet med examensarbetet är att ta fram ett gestaltningsförslag för en temalekplats i anslutning till Sjöhistoriska museet i Stockholm. Gestaltningen baseras på platsens utgångspunkter, litteraturstudie, platsanalys och inspirationsexempel. De utgångspunkter som har ansetts vara mest viktiga för arbetet har varit museets verksamhet och önskemål för en ny lekplats. Därmed har det maritima temat samt möjligheter till lek, lärande och pedagogisk verksamhet varit av extra vikt.

I litteraturstudien beskrivs barns lek, aspekter som kan vara viktiga att tänka på vid utformning av lekplatser samt en beskrivning av temalekplatser med Malmö som exempel. Här redogörs även för barns lärande och kunskap samt museipedagogik och utomhuspedagogik. I platsanalysen beskrivs resultatet av behovsanalys, karaktärsanalys, Lynch-analys samt SWOT-analys. I inspirationsdelen beskrivs tre exempel på lekplatser som har valts ut genom att de har någon form av koppling till gestaltningen av Sjöhistoriska museets lekplats. De utgörs av Hav- och strandlekplatsen i Malmö, lekplats Bryggartäppan i Stockholm samt Tom Tits experimentpark i Södertälje.

Gestaltningsförslaget inleds med ett gestaltningsprogram, med syfte att fungera som ett stöd för gestaltningen. Viktiga aspekter som beskrivs är: det maritima temat, anpassning för barn mellan 0 och 8år, karaktärsdrag som gynnar lek, förutsättningar för lek och lärande, småskalighet, tillvaratagande av platsen styrkor och möjligheter samt en motverkan av platsens svagheter och hot. Gestaltningsförslaget presenteras med hjälp av illustrationsplan, vyer, perspektiv, illustrationer och beskrivande text. Lekplatsens innehåll är unikt utarbetat, vilket gör att inga traditionella lekredskap har använts.

För framtiden tänker jag mig att det finns mycket att undersöka i anslutning till museimiljöer utomhus och dess potential att koppla samman lek, lärande och pedagogisk verksamhet.

The purpose of the paper is to produce a design proposal for a playground in connection to the Maritime Museum in Stockholm. The proposal is based on the premises of the location, literary studies, a place analysis and inspirational examples.

I’ve chosen to focus on the premises that concern the activities of the museum and their wishes for a new playground. The maritime theme and the possibilities for play, learning and educational activities have thus been the main focal points.

The literary study provides perspective regarding children’s play, some aspects of importance when designing a playground and a description of theme playgrounds. Further described are theories regarding children’s learning and knowledge, as well as museum pedagogy and outdoor teaching. The place analysis contains a requirement analysis, a character analysis, a Lynch analysis and a SWOT analysis. In the part concerning inspirational examples, three playgrounds have been chosen due to some connection to the proposal of the Maritime Museum playground. They consist of the Sea and beach playground in Malmö, Bryggartäppan playground and the experimental park at Tom Tits experiment in Södertälje.

The proposal section of the paper introduces a design program for the playground. The program is intended to act as a support for the proposal. Important items are: the maritime theme, adaption for children between the ages of 0 to 8, characteristics that support play, conditions for play and learning, a small scale, take advantage of the strengths and opportunities of the site and counteract the weaknesses and threats of the place. In the part of the design proposal the suggested design is presented with the help of an illustrated plan, views, a perspective, illustrations and descriptive texts. The content of the playground is uniquely designed, meaning that no traditional play equipment has been used.

In the future I imagine that there’s still much to examine regarding the outdoor environments of museums and the possibilities in combining play, learning and educational activities.
