Abstract

När gestaltningsförslag ska kommuniceras tenderar attraktiva element att överdrivas för att sälja in designen, speciellt i virtuella renderingar kan en falsk representation av det färdiga projektet formas. Därmed blir det än viktigare att de direktiv som presenterats faktiskt stämmer överens med det färdigbyggda projektet. Syftet med denna text är att undersöka estetiska riktlinjer som har styrt utvecklingen av nybyggnationen Södra Rosendal i Uppsala, samt hur dessa direktiv representeras i den färdiga byggnationen. En dokumentanalys av källor som har styrt utvecklingen av Södra Rosendal utfördes för att identifiera estetiska riktlinjer. Därefter utfördes ett platsanalys där uttrycket av dessa riktlinjer undersöktes. Både dokumentanalysen och platsanalyset gjordes utifrån en analysmetod som väver samman tre olika texter som behandlar stadsbyggnad. Analysmetoden innefattar fyra bedömningsområden: Siktlinjer, Skala och rymd, Vegetation och Stadens karaktär. Under dokumentanalysen uppmärksammas bedömningsområdena Skala och rymd samt Stadens karaktär som mest prevalenta, medans platsanalysen visar på att endast det sistnämnda kunde identifieras som genomgående i hela bostadsområdet. Resonemangen bakom gestaltningsförslagen och riktlinjerna uppfodrar till en diskussion kring hur landskapsarkitektur kommuniceras. Främst används funktionalistiska resonemang för att argumentera värdet av en design, trots att det är tydligt att tid och energi hade gått till att bearbeta den estetiska dimensionen. Detta bedömds bero på att estetiska argument anses vara för subjektiva för att användas till att sälja in projekt, till skillnad mot mer konkreta funktionella värden. Sammantaget identifieras hållbara funktionella värden ha en stor påverkan på samtida landskapsarkitektur, och med detta följer risken att estetiska värden bortprioriteras till förmån av samtida trender.

When design proposals are to be communicated, attractive elements tend to be exaggerated in order to paint the design in a better light, which is especially prevalent in virtual renderings where a false representation of the final project can be created. Thus, it becomes even more important that the directives presented actually correspond to the completed project. The purpose of this text is to examine aesthetic guidelines that have guided the development of the new housing area Södra Rosendal in Uppsala, and how these directives are represented in the completed construction. A document analysis of sources that has guided the development of Södra Rosendal were carried out to identify aesthetic guidelines. A site visit was then conducted where the expression of these guidelines was examined. Both the document analysis and the site visit were conducted based on an analysis method that weaves together three different texts discussing urban planning. The analysis method includes four assessment areas: Serial vision, Scale and space, Vegetation and Urban character. In the document analysis it is noted that the assessment areas Scale and space and Urban character are the most prevalent, while the site visit show that only the latter assessment area can be identified as a consistent in the entire residential area. The reasoning behind the design proposals and guidelines produce a discussion about the communication of landscape architecture. Functional arguments are mainly used to promote the value of a design, even though a lot of time and energy clearly are being put into creating the aesthetic values of the design. This is assigned to the fact that aesthetic arguments are considered too subjective to use to sell projects, in contrast to more concrete functional values. All in all, sustainable functional values are identified to have a major impact on landscape architecture, and with this comes the risk of aesthetic values being downplayed in favor of contemporary trends.
