Abstract

Denna uppsats undersöker den nya gröna vågens och ”gröna vågares” föreställning om landsbygden, både hur den sett ut innan flytten till landsbygden och hur den kan ha förändrats efter utflytten. I detta utforskas även vilka eller vilket värde som tillskrivs landsbygden. Studiens empiri har samlats genom kvalitativa intervjuer och analyseras genom Abram och Woods teori om rural gaze, på svenska översatt till landsbygdssyn. Vidare analys innefattar Roland Barthes teori om mytbildning och utgår från narrativanalys som både metod och teori.
Resultatet av studien visar att det förekommer både liknande föreställningar av landsbygden och olikheter i fråga om mer individuella uppfattningar. Bilden av landsbygden, som presenterats utifrån analysen, menar att landsbygden är en plats för ett miljövänligt liv där självhushåll fungerar som en viktig del, att landsbygden är en plats för skapande där fokus består av att leva utan stress och därmed uppnå ett lugnare liv och slutligen att kunskap är avgörande för livet på landsbygden.

This essay examines the back to the land movement and the perception of the countryside amongst people within the movement, both how the perception is formed before the move and how it may have changed after leaving the city. The essay also explores what value is being attributed to the countryside. The study's empirics have been collected through qualitative interviews and analyzed through Abram and Wood's theory of rural gaze. Furthermore, the theory of mythologies by Roland Barthes is used, as well a narrative analysis – both as a method and as a theory.
The results of the study show that there are both similar perceptions of the countryside and differences in terms of more individual opinions. Based on the analysis the homogeneous picture of the countryside portrays the countryside as a place for a more environmentally friendly lifestyle where self-sufficiency works as an important part, that the countryside is a place for creation where the main priority is reduced stress and a calmer life, and finally, the countryside as a place where practical knowledge is highly valued.
