Abstract

Enligt Sveriges nationella livsmedelsstrategi ska den totala livsmedelsproduktionen i Sverige öka. Strategin ska bland annat bidra till att närproducerade- och ekologiska livsmedel ökar. Bland målen i livsmedelsstrategin finns också ett mål om att 60 procent av maten som serveras inom kommunala verksamheter ska vara ekologisk till 2030. I ljuset av detta är det intressant att undersöka hur kom-muntjänstepersoner och lantbrukare resonerar kring frågor om livsmedelsproduktion. Syftet med uppsatsen är därmed att bidra med förståelse för hur olika aktörer resonerar om lokal livsmedels-produktion och ekologisk hållbarhet. I framtagandet av material för uppsatsen genomfördes inter-vjuer med kommuntjänstepersoner och lantbrukare i Vingåkers kommun. Därefter analyserades materialet utifrån den politiska filosofin lokalism, med fokus på ekologisk hållbarhet och lokalpro-ducerad mat. I intervjuerna med kommuntjänstepersonerna visade det sig att kommunen inte har så många lokalproducenter att köpa ifrån. När det gäller handeln mellan lokalproducenter och kommu-nen verkar det inte handla så mycket om ekonomiska värden eller ekologisk hållbarhet, utan snarare om symboliska handlingar och en lojalitet gentemot bygden och gemenskapen. Därutöver identifi-erades likheter mellan lantbrukares och kommuntjänstepersoners resonerande och defensiv lo-kalism. Slutligen framkom det att de kommunanställda har flera målkonflikter att hantera i sina arbetsroller i valet mellan olika livsmedel.

According to the Swedish food strategy the domestic food production should increase. The inten-tions of the strategy, more specifically, is that the locally produced food should increase and organic food as well. The strategy also contains more specific goals. For instance there is a goal for munic-ipalities to reach by 2030 where 60 percent of the food that is consumed within the public sector should be organic. In the light of this it is interesting to examine how municipal officials and farmers reason regarding food production. Therefore, the purpose of this thesis is to contribute with an un-derstanding for how actors reason about local produce and ecological sustainability. The study is based on qualitative interviews with farmers and municipal officials within the municipality of Vingåker. The interviews are analyzed on the basis of localism and with an emphasis on ecological sustainability and locally produced food. The findings of the study show that the most important aspect of the trade between farmers and the municipality of Vingåker, is to preserve or strengthen the rural community of Vingåker. Despite the comprehensive agriculture in Vingåker, there are few suppliers that actually deliver food to the municipality of Vingåker. Finally, there are some similar-ities between defensive localism and the reasoning of municipal officials and farmers.
