Abstract

Vildbins situation är mycket ansträngd då deras naturliga habitat försvinner i ett allt mer storskaligt och effektivt jordbrukslandskap. Grönytor och ruderatmarker i städer har blivit en tillflyktsort, men även dessa habitat försvinner när staden expanderar och förtätas. Gröna tak har bevisats kunna gynna vildbin om de utformas på rätt sätt och tak i staden är, enligt mig, en relativt outnyttjad yta. Taken på busskurer är ett exempel, som med en annorlunda utformning, troligen skulle kunna utgöra habitat för vildbin. I detta arbete undersöks människors attityder till biotoptak på busskurer och hur attityderna påverkas av information kring dess fördelar för vildbin. En möjlig gestaltning för en busskur belagd med biotoptak tas fram och jämförs med busskurer med glas- och sedumtak. Människors attityd till de olika taken och motiveringarna därtill besvaras genom en digital enkätundersökning. Undersökningen visar att respondenterna värderar biotoptaken högre än glas- och sedumtak, både före och efter att de blivit delgivna information om dess fördelar för vildbin. Vidare visar undersökningen att kvinnor värderar biotoptaket högre än män, både före och efter att de blivit delgivna informationen. I enkätundersökningens kvalitativa delar framförs dels åsikter om biotoptakets estetiska kvaliteter och dess möjlighet att bidra till biologisk mångfald men även en oro för hur det skulle kunna påverka vildbinas livsmiljö och resenärernas hälsa. Flera respondenter belyser det faktum att det finns en kunskapsbrist, något som enligt min mening delvis skulle kunna lösas genom att anlägga biotoptak på busskurer och sprida information om dess fördelar.

The situation for wild bees is very strained as their natural habitat disappears in a more large-scale and efficient agricultural landscape. Green spaces and urban wasteland have become a refuge, but even these habitats disappear as cities expand and densify. Green roofs have been proven to benefit wild bees if they are suitably designed and roofs in the city are, in my opinion, a rather underused space. For example, the roofs of bus shelters may, with a different design, probably constitute a habitat for wild bees. This work examines people’s attitudes to biodiverse roofs on bus shelters, and how attitudes may change due to information about biodiverse roofs’ benefits for wild bees. A potential design for a bus shelter, coated with a biodiverse roof, is developed. The design is then compared to bus shelters with glass- and sedum roofs. People’s attitudes and justification of the different roofs are answered by a digital survey. The survey shows that respondents value the biodiverse roofs higher than the glass- and sedum roofs, both before and after they have been informed about their benefits for wild bees. Furthermore, the study shows that women value the biodiverse roofs higher than men, both before and after they have received the information. The respondents express opinions on the aesthetic qualities of the biodiverse roof, its ability to contribute to biodiversity as well as concerns about how the roof may affect the habitat of wild bees and the health of travelers. Several respondents highlight that there is a lack of knowledge that, in my belief, could be partly solved by building biodiverse roofs on bus shelters and spreading information about their benefits.
