Abstract

Denna studie tar sin utgångspunkt i en av Tillväxtverket utsedd socioekonomiskt utsatt kommun, Vingåkers kommun. Föreningslivet runt om i landet fyller många funktioner, bland annat en plats för tillvaro, mening och social interaktion. Föreningslivets roll som stöttare kan ses som viktig i de komplexa processer som uppstår när nyanlända ska fortsätta sina liv på en ny plats. Aktiviteter och engagemang i civilsamhället kan vara ett sätt att skapa sociala kontakter och mening på den nya platsen.
Studiens syftar till att undersöka civilsamhällets roll, perspektiv och förutsättningar för integration av nyanlända barn och unga. Genom en kvalitativ intervjustudie har jag guidats av tre frågeställningar som syftar till att beskriva idrottsföreningars erfarenheter kring föreningsliv, integration och hur samarbete med kommunen ser ut.
Resultatet visar att föreningars formella nätverk inkluderar och har förutsättningar att inkludera personer, bland annat personer med utländsk bakgrund. Faktorer som kön, klass och etnicitet samspelar. Tillsammans med det normgivande samhället utgör de hinder för barn och ungas deltagande i föreningsaktiviteter. Socialt kapital och tillit genereras hos medlemmar men också gentemot de som inte direkt är involverade i idrottandet. Kommunen och andra aktörers ekonomiska stöttning gentemot föreningar resulterar i olika utfall beroende på kontext. Dess stimulanser möjliggör dock satsningar för att erbjuda nyanlända barn och unga ett socialt nätverk och ett deltagande i kommunens föreningsliv.

Vingåkers municipality is appointed by the authority Tillväxtverket to be a socio-economic exposed municipality. This study takes place in this context. Voluntary associations around the country fulfills many functions, including a place for existence, meaning and social interaction. The role of voluntary associations as a supporter can be seen as important for the complex processes that arise when people with foreign background continue their lives in a new place. Activities and involvement in the civil society might be a way to create social contacts and meaning in the new place.
The study aims to investigate the role, perspectives and conditions that the civil society have around integration of children and young people with foreign background. Through a qualitative interview study, I have been guided by three questions aimed at describing voluntary sports associations' experiences regarding the associations, integration and how collaboration with the municipality looks like.
The result shows that the associations' formal network includes and has the prerequisites to include people, along with people with foreign backgrounds. Factors such as gender, class and ethnicity interact. Together with the normative society, they constitute barriers towards participation of children and young people in voluntary association activities. Social capital and trust are generated by members but also by those who are not directly involved in the sport activities. The municipality and other actors' financial support towards voluntary associations result in different outcomes depending on context. However, its incentive enables investments to offer newly arrived children and young people a social network and participation in the municipality's association life.
