Abstract

Vår hälsa påverkas inte enbart av individuella val. Stadsplaneringen har under decennier format ett samhälle som främjar en stillasittande livsstil, samtidigt som svenskarnas motionsvanor blir sämre. Mängden fysisk aktivitet som barn får i sin vardag är kopplade till faktorer i boendemiljön. Förskolan är den plats där de yngsta barnen tillbringar mest tid i vardagen. Därför är förskolegården en viktig plats som kan ge förutsättningar för fysisk aktivitet. Syftet med kanditatarbetet är att utvärdera hur väl förskolegårdar i ett nyexploaterat område är utformade för att vara en hälsofrämjande miljö, med fokus på fysisk aktivitet. Metoderna som användes för att undersöka problemet var en litteraturstudie samt en platsanalys, uppdelad på tre förskolegårdar i nyexploaterade områden i Liljeholmen. Litteraturstudien redovisar att ytan, mängd vegetation och topografi, samt förekomsten av markmönster, fysiska barriärer och löst material har betydelse för förskolegårdens förutsättningar för fysisk aktivitet. Platsanalysen utgick från litteraturen och resultatet visar att de tre förskolegårdarna inte uppfyller kriterier för fysisk aktivitet. Undersökningen visar att förskolegårdarna inte är utformade för att vara en hälsofrämjande miljö, med fokus på fysisk aktivitet. När nya stadsdelar byggs måste planeringen utgå från utformningsprinciper som kan motiveras med fakta. Stadsplaneringen måste ge förutsättningar för en god hälsa. Utformningen av barnens livsmiljöer påverkar befolkningens framtida välmående.

Our health is not only the result of individual choices; for decades, urban planning has indirectly promoted a sedentary lifestyle. During the same period the amount of exercise that Swedes get has also decreased. The amount of physical activity that children receive in their daily lives can be linked to factors in their living environment. The preschool is the place where the youngest children spend the most of their time in everyday life. Therefore, the preschool is an important place that can provide the conditions for physical activity. The purpose of this essay is to investigate how well preschool yards in newly build environments are designed to promote good health and physical activity. The methods used to investigate the problem were a literature study and analysis of places. The analysis was carried out on three newly constructed preschool yards in Liljeholmen. The literature review reports than area, amount of vegetation and topography, as well as the presence of patterns on the ground, physical barriers and loose material are important prerequisites for the preschool's ability to enable physical activity. The analysis was based on bouth the literature, and the results from field show that the three preschool yards do not meet the criteria for physical activity. The study shows that the outdoor area at the preschools are not designed to be a healthy environment, where the focus on physical activity is promoted. When new neighborhoods are built, the urban planning must be based on design principles that can be justified by facts. Urban planning must provide the conditions for good health. The design of children's environments affects the population's future well-being.
