Abstract

I Sverige saknas idag tydliga exempel på längre leder i högfjällsmiljöer som är tillgänglighetsanpassade för människor med nedsatt rörelseförmåga. Uppfattningen att det råder en konflikt mellan tillgänglighet och kvaliteten av naturupplevelser försvårar dock motiveringen till anläggningen av sådana leder, särskilt i skyddad natur. Detta arbete redovisar ett förslag på en led på ungefär 2,5 km som är tillgänglighetsanpassad för rullstolsburna i Abisko nationalpark. Förslaget ämnar att problematisera denna konflikt. Genom intervjuer med sakkunniga inom tillgängliga naturområden, studier av handböcker för tillgänglighetsanpassningar, en teoretisk bakgrund av forskningsområdet och författarens egna erfarenheter av planområdet har verktyg samlats för att analysera, gestalta och motivera den föreslagna leden. Med hjälp av GIS har de geografiska och topografiska underlagen för arbetet tagits fram. Utifrån resultatet kan inte slutsatsen dras att konflikten mellan tillgänglighetsanpassningar och naturupplevelser är obefintlig, men den kan problematiseras och begränsas inom kontexten för de svenska fjällen ifall denna region betraktas som ett kulturlandskap. Med råd från de sakkunniga och litteraturen har även praktiska lösningar funnits som kan begränsa tillgänglighetsanpassningars påverkan på naturupplevelser.

Today, in Sweden there are no clear examples of more lengthy trails in alpine environments which are made accessible for people with reduced mobility. The widely spread conception of a conflict between accessibility and the quality of experiences in natural environments complicates the justification of such trails, especially in areas protected by legislation. In an attempt to problematize this conflict, this thesis presents a design proposal for a new 2,5km long trail made accessible for wheelchair users in the National Park of Abisko. Through interviews with experts in the field of accessibility in natural environments, a study of manuals for planning of accessible recreation in nature, a theoretical background of the subject and the authors own experiences from Abisko, a collection of tools have been created to analyze, design and motivate the proposed trail. Based on the results, one cannot fully discard the supposed conflict between accessibility adjustments and the perception of natural environments. However, it is possible to problematize and limit its implications within the context of the Swedish alpine region, if this region perceived as a cultural landscape, rather than a pristine natural environment. Based on advice from experts and the literature, practical design solutions have been used to limit the negative effects of the proposed accessible trail on the perception of the natural environment.
