Abstract

Urbanisering och förtätning av städer ökar behovet av grönområden för rekreativa möjligheter. För landskapsarkitekter och planerare är det viktigt att förstå vilka motiv och preferenser besökare har för att uppfylla detta behov och bidra med rekreativa möjligheter för alla. Denna studie undersökte besökares motiv och preferenser i två olika grönområden, Stadsträdgården och Stadsskogen. Även hur besökare upplevde dessa platser studerades. Data samlades in genom litteraturöversikt, observationer och intervjuer. Med fokus på information från intervjuerna analyserades insamlade data utifrån fem teman: funktionella värden, naturliga värden, tillgång, nåbarhet och kvalitet. Dessa är kopplade till tidigare forskning av motiv för rekreation utomhus och utvecklingen av grönområden i Sverige. Respondenternas motiv för rekreation i grönområden delades in i fyra generella kategorier: avkoppling, socialt umgänge, naturupplevelse och fysisk hälsa. Avkoppling och socialt umgänge var de vanligaste motiven, följt av naturupplevelse och fysisk hälsa. Analysen visade att besökare har olika motiv och preferenser vid rekreation och att grönområdens funktioner och lämplighet för en viss aktivitet påverkar motiv och val av plats. Det är därför värdefullt med en variation av grönområden som fyller olika funktioner och som kan utnyttjas för olika ändamål.

Urbanization and city infill increases the demand for green spaces for recreational opportunities. For landscape architects and planners, it is important to understand motives and preferences of visitors to meet this need and provide recreational opportunities for all. This study examined motives and preferences of visitors in two different green spaces, Stadsträdgården and Stadsskogen. How visitors perceived these places were also studied. Data was collected by a literature review, observations and interviews. Focusing on information from the interviews, collected data was analyzed based on five themes: functional values, natural values, access, accessibility and quality. These are linked to previous research of motives for outdoor recreation and the development of green spaces in Sweden. Respondents' motivation for recreation in green spaces was divided into four general categories: relaxation, social interaction, nature interaction and physical health. Relaxation and social interaction were the most common motives, followed by nature interaction and physical health. The analysis showed that visitors have different motives and preferences for recreation and that green area's features and suitability for a particular activity affect motives and choice of location. It is therefore valuable with a variety of green spaces that fulfill different functions and can be used for different purposes.
