Abstract

Denna studie syftar till att undersöka hur immateriellt kulturarv används och framträder i vad som har kommit att kallas Sagobygden, vars område täcks av Ljungbys, Alvestas, och Älmhults kommuner i Kronobergs län. Kulturarv är av stor vikt för bland annat kulturell mångfald och sägs ha en betydande påverkan på regioners ekonomi. Kulturarven har genom Unescos arbete med världsarv getts en hög status, och det är vanligt att de används inom regional utveckling ur en marknadsföringssynpunkt. Med bakgrund i detta har jag velat studera användandet av den muntliga berättartraditionen som ett immateriellt kulturarv i Sagobygden. De frågeställningar jag har behandlat i studien är: Hur använder sig olika aktörer av det immateriella kulturarvet i Sagobygden? Hur och med vilka medel uttrycker sig det immateriella kulturarvet i Sagobygden?
Den metod som jag har använt för att samla in empiri är en kombination av litteratur- och materialstudier, observationer på plats, och intervjuer. Materialet har sedan analyserats med hjälp av teori och analytiska begrepp så som historiebrukande, kulturarvsproduktion, platsmarknadsföring och Bruno Latours översättningsmodell.
Studien har visat på att aktörsgrupper använder det lokala kulturarvet på olika sätt och med olika syften, från exempelvis att ha bevarande som största mål till att använda det som en representation för en region med hjälp av platsmarknadsföring. Kulturarvet kan ses som en del av det förgångna, men handlar även om vad som sker i nuet, och detta kan ses i Sagobygden genom att berättartraditionen har tagit olika riktningar och gestaltats i olika former. Kulturarvet är beroende av aktörer för att det ska hållas levande.

This thesis is aiming to examine how intangible cultural heritage is used and in what has come to be named the Land of Legends. This area consists of the municipalities of Ljungby, Alvesta and Älmhult which are situated in the county of Kronoberg. Cultural heritage has been called to be of great importance for cultural diversity and a positive influence of economy within regions. Through Unesco´s work with their world heritage lists, cultural heritage has gained a high status, and regions often use cultural heritage within their marketing. With this in mind I have wanted to study the use of the oral storytelling tradition as a intangible cultural heritage in the Land of Legends. The research questions which has been the basis of the study is: How does different actors use the intangible cultural heritage in the Land of Legends? How and with what means does the intangible cultural heritage in the Land of Legends express itself?
The method that has been used to gather my empirical material is a combination of literature studies, observations and interviews. The material has then been analysed with theory and analytical concepts such as uses of history, heritage production, place marketing and Bruno Latour´s theory that phenomena’s is dependent on actors to remain alive.
The thesis has shown that different groups of actors is using the local heritage in different ways and with different purposes, from preserving it to use it to represent a region through place marketing. Cultural heritage can be seen as a part of the past, but is also a part of what is happening in this time. In the Land of Legends this can be seen through cultural heritage taking different paths and shapes. For a herit-age to remain alive it is dependent of actors that is keeping it alive by doing something with it.
