Abstract

Det blir allt vanligare att bygga ätbås för mjölkkor i lösdriftsstall. Syftet med ätbås är att förbättra ätmiljön för korna. Detta sker genom att korna står mjukt och torrt med klöverna. Klövhälsan kan därigenom förbättras, samtidigt som ätbåsen kan minska foderkonkurrensen. Syftet med detta arbete var att utifrån erfarenheter från befintliga kostall med ätbås utarbeta rekommendationer för hur ätbås bör utformas för bästa funktion. I detta arbete har 18 gårdar studerats.

Ätbåsen i de studerade besättningarna fungerar mycket bra med hänsyn till de kriterier som studerades. Korna får en förbättrad ätmiljö genom minskad foderkonkurrens och en torr och mjuk miljö för klöverna. Ätbås bör starkt övervägas vid nybyggnation av lösdriftsstall för mjölkkor.

Construction of feed-stalls in loose housing barns for dairy cows is getting more and more common in Sweden. In early 2001, approximately 50 barns with feed-stalls have been built. The purpose of feed-stalls is to improve the eating environment of the cow. The cow can stand dry and soft in the feed-stall, thus improving the claw health. The competition between the cows at the feeding table can be reduced by the feed-stalls.
The main objective of this work was to formulate recommendations for the optimal design of feed-stalls, by gathering information and experiences from already constructed feed-stall barns. In this work, 18 barns have been studied.

The feed-stalls in the studied farms worked very well. Decreased feed competition and a dry and soft floor for the claws improve the eating environment of the cow. Construction of feed-stalls should be considered in every new construction of loose housing barns for dairy cows.
