Abstract

Humle, Humulus lupulus har under lång tid varit en viktig kulturväxt i Sverige. Den klättrande perennen producerar blomställningar som innehåller essentiella oljor och hartser, och används för att smaksätta öl. Förut var öl en mycket viktig källa till vätska och näringsämnen. Mot slutet av 1800-talet konkurrerades den svenska humleodlingen ut och det var först i början av 1900-talet som kommersiell odling av humle åter bedrevs i Sverige. Denna odling fanns främst i Näsumstrakten i Skåne och var aktiv mellan 1921-1959. Mot slutet av 1950-talet konkurrerades åter den svenska humlen ut och produktionen upphörde. Det är först på senare tid som intresset för svensk humle har återuppstått, mycket tack vare de mikrobryggerier som ständigt ökar i landet. Syftet med detta arbete är att analysera föreningen Humlebygget i Näsums odlingssystem och ge förslag på växtskyddsrelaterade åtgärder enligt ekologisk produktion. I slutet av arbetet diskuteras dessa åtgärder. Det finns flera åtgärder föreningen Humlebygget kan vidta som leder till ett odlingssystem anpassat till ekologisk odling. Exempel på dessa är bevattning, förbättrad odlingshygien och odling av bottengrödor. Svensk humleodling har en framtid i Sverige, men det krävs betydligt mer kunskap och sorter anpassade till vårt klimat för att produktionen ska kunna utvecklas.

Hops, Humulus lupulus has historically been a crop of major importance in Sweden. It is a climbing perennial, and its inflorescences contains essential oils and resins which are used for adding flavor in beer production. Beer has historically had an important role as provider of nutrients and liquid when there was a shortage of clean water. By the end of the nineteenth century the Swedish hop production couldn’t compete with European hop producers and the growers went under. It wasn’t until the beginning of the twentieth century that hops were once again produced commercially in Sweden. The hops were mostly grown in the area of Näsum, Skåne between the years 1921-1959. By the end of the 1950’s the Swedish hop production were once again outcompeted. It is not until now that awareness has risen on Swedish hops, much thanks to the many microbreweries that are spreading across the country. The aim of this thesis is to analyze the non-profit association Humlebygget in Näsums hop-growing system, and give suggestions on how to adapt the existing pest management to fit the practices of organic production. At the end of the thesis these suggestions are discussed. There are several actions that the non-profit association Humlebygget can take to adapt their pest management practices. Examples of these are irrigation, improved hygiene practices and the use of ground crops. Swedish hop production is moving towards a bright future, but it is crucial that more information and varieties adapted to our climate becomes available to growers.
