Abstract

Begreppet urban forestry myntades på 60-talet i USA och intresset för urbant trädförvaltande har på senare år spridits till Sverige och blivit mer och mer upp-märksammat. Träd i urbana miljöer är viktiga av många orsaker och kan värderas utifrån kulturhistoriska, sociala och naturvärdesperspektiv. Urban trädinventering kan mäta dessa värden och till exempel tillhandahålla riskbedömning och kvantifie-ring av ekosystemtjänster. Det finns dock många frågetecken kring planeringspro-cessen och väldigt lite vägledning inom ämnet.
Denna litteraturstudie ger en generell överblick över planeringsprocessen och vilka aspekter som är viktiga att överväga vid utformandet av urban trädinventering. Aspekter som identifierats i denna litteraturstudie är syfte, val av parametrar, val av metod och löpande arbete. Att inventera träd är en komplex process som kräver god planering och noggrant förarbete. Det finns mängder med syften att utgå ifrån, pa-rametrar att välja mellan och metoder att ta ställning till. Utöver detta ska det lö-pande arbetet, inklusive datahantering, sammanställning och uppdatering, planeras för.
Identifiering av syfte är det viktigaste då det påverkar resten av utformningen. Val av parametrar reflekterar syftet. Val av metod anpassas efter vilka parametrar som ska mätas. Det löpande arbetet handlar om att ge inventeringen förutsättningar för att användas, till exempel sammanställning och uppdatering i framtiden. Dessa aspekter påverkar varandra i hög utsträckning och kräver en process av noggrann planering.

The concept of urban forestry was developed in the 60s in the US, and interest in urban tree management has in recent years spread to Sweden and got more and more attention. Trees in urban environments are important for many reasons and can be valued on the basis of cultural, social and natural value perspectives. Urban tree inventories is a tool to assess these values, and for example provide risk assessment and quantification of ecosystem services. However, there are many questions about the process of planning and very little guidance on the subject.
This literature study provides a general overview of the process of planning and which aspects are important to consider in the design of urban tree inventory. As-pects that were identified in this study are the purpose of the inventory, the selec-tion of parameters, the selection of methods and the continuous work. Conducting urban tree inventories is a complex process that requires good planning and careful preparation. There are numerous purposes for conductiong inventories, parameters to choose from and methods to consider. Additionally, the continuous work, including data management and updating, should also be planned for.
Identification of the purpose is important as it affects the rest of the design. Selection of parameters are reflecting the purpose. Selection of method are adapted to the parameters that is to be measured. The continuous work is about making the inventory accesseble to be used, for example, summarizing and updating in the future. These aspects influence each other to a great extent and requires a process of careful planning.
