Abstract

Inom visuella och kreativa yrkesområden används många olika gestaltningstekniker
under skapande processer, från den enkla skissen
under projektets tidiga stadie till den färdigställda intrikata tredimensionella
modell. I användandet av dessa slags olika tekniker finns
ett behov av att förstå hur de olika teknikerna fungerar och vad
de förmedlar. Inom denna masteruppsats har tre olika gestaltningstekniker
studerats för att undersöka hur de fungerar vid avbildandet
av samma motiv. De tre teknikerna som studerats är blyerts (snabbskissande),
flytande tusch och modellbygge. Det valda motivet är
en utvald del av Sundspromenaden i Malmö. Utifrån denna plats
har fyra olika vyer valts att fokusera på (se figur 8). Innan de visuella
representationerna av platsen skapats utfördes platsanalyser utifrån
Jan Gehl och Kevin Lynch för att förstå platsens utformning och hur
platsen används. Platsanalyserna visade att platsen främjar varierad
mänsklig aktivitet så som umgänge och rörelse. De skapade representationerna
av platsen (se figur 9-11) analyserades utifrån en
semiotisk bildanalysmetod där representationerna studeras utifrån
dess denotativa och konnotativa betydelser. Bildanalyserna av de
snabba blyertsskisserna, tuschteckningarna och modellen visade att
gestaltningsteknikerna skiljde sig åt rent utformningsmässigt men att
de förmedlade liknande upplevelser av platsen. Platsens atmosfär
förmedlades vid användning av de tre olika teknikerna även att de
skiljde sig åt utifrån ett estetiskt perspektiv.

Within highly visual and creative fields there are several different types
of visualisation techniques used within the creative process, from the
simple sketch in the early stages of the project to the finished three
dimensional model in the later stages. When using different types of
techniques there is a need to understand how they work and what
they convey. This master thesis explores how three different visualisation
techniques function when creating visual representations of
the same motif. The three chosen techniques are graphite pen (quick
sketch), drawing ink and modelmaking. The chosen motif is part of
Sundspromenaden in Malmö. Within this place four views were chosen
to create the representations. Before the representations were
created place analysis of the chosen place was conducted to understand
how the space is shaped and how it is used. To analyse
the created visual representations of the place a semiotic analysis
method was used where the denotative and connotative aspects
were explored. The analysis of the representations revealed that the
created visual representations differed in format and appearence,
however the connotative interpretations of the three different types
of techniques were similar, which can indicate that different techniques
can be used to accoplish a similar experience.
