Abstract

Due to the expansion and densifying of cities many green areas and a lot of habitats for different species disappear. At the same time natural habitats are reduced in the countryside due to the intensification of agriculture and a high use of chemicals. By constructing green roofs new habitats are enabled for some of the species. The most common type of vegetated roofs is today sedum dominated roof with a small substrate depth. Using amplified roofs increases the ability to construct a vegetated roof with a higher biological value. Information about these kind of roofs is hard to find, and this studie is therefore an attempt to create a compilation on how to create a vegetated roof with a high biological value.
