Abstract

Naturen ska vara tillgänglig för alla och tillgänglighet är något som vi ställer höga krav på i Sverige, både i staden och i naturen. En viktig aspekt för att nå kraven på tillgänglighet är att se till att människor har möjlighet att ta sig runt självständigt utan hinder. Hinder undviks ofta genom olika tillgänglighetsanordningar. Människors intresse för friluftsliv och rekreation i naturen sammanfaller ofta med naturområden som har särskilda värden och därför är skyddade. Med detta i åtanke blir det viktigt hur vi placerar och väljer att utforma tillgänglighetsåtgärder i naturen. Syftet med detta arbete är att ge ett exempel på hur landskapsarkitektur kan ge tillgång till naturupplevelser i skyddad natur med hänsyn till både människor och natur. Arbetet baseras delvis på rapporten Tillgängliga natur- och kulturområden, som ger en bakrund till tillgänglighetsarbetet och hur man använder zonering, olika nivåer av tillgänglighet och hur man gör prioriteringar mellan olika intressen. I det här arbetet har jag valt att undersöka Fårös nordvästra raukkust på Gotland för att besvara frågan hur tillgänglighetsåtgärder kan utformas, utifrån en plats specifika förhållanden, så att tillgång till naturupplevelser på platsen ges samtidigt som naturvärdena bevaras. Metoderna har varit landskapsanalys samt en observation av områdets besökare genom bilder från sociala medier. Resultatet är ett gestaltningsförslag bestående av ett gestaltningsrogram och koncept för området som presenteras i en programplan. Förslaget presenteras också med idéskisser och principlösningar för olika anordningar som ger tillgång till naturupplevelserna på platsen. Förslaget tar också hänsyn till dem som vill uppleva området i befintligt skick. Konsekvenserna av förslaget är en visuell förändring av landskapet samt att området reduceras för de besökare som vill uppleva naturen i dens ursprungliga form. För dem som behöver en anordning för att nå naturupplevelser är förslaget en förbättring av platsen. För naturvården innebär förslaget ett intrång i naturskyddet och de prioriteringar som gjorts diskuteras i den sista delen av detta arbete. Eftersom tillgängligheten är ett krav är slutsatsen att vi måste erbjuda en hög nivå av tillgänglighet, åtminstone på en representativ plats där en naturupplevelse finns. Svårigheterna är att bedöma var tillgängligheten bör prioriteras framför naturskyddet.

Nature should be accessible to all of us and accessibility is something that we have high demands on in Sweden, both in the city and in nature. An important aspect of this demand is to make sure that people are able to get around independently and without obstacles. These obstacles are often avoided through accessible pathways and boardwalks. People’s interest in recreation in nature often coincide with nature areas that have a special value and therefore also a certain level of conservation. With this in mind, it becomes important how we place and choose to design accessibility measures in nature. The purpose of this paper is to give an example of how landscaping can give access to experiences within conserved nature, with respect to both visitors and nature. The paper is based on a Swedish report about accessibility in protected nature and cultural areas, which gives a background to how to use planning tools as zoning, different levels of accessibility and how to make priorities between different interests. The coast of northwestern Fårö on Gotland are examined in this paper to answer the question of how accessibility measures can be designed based on the conditions of a certain site so that access to experiences within nature on the site are provided coherently with the preservation of its values. The method used to achieve this has been an analysis of the landscape and an observation of the sites visitors through a social media platform. The result is a site plan of the area, as well as sketches and principal solutions for various devices that allow access to the nature experiences on site. The design proposal also takes into account those who want to experience the site in its existing condition. The potential impact of the proposal is a visual change of the landscape that means that the experience of the site may be jeopardized for those visitors who want to experience the nature in its original form. For those who need outdoor devices to access nature experiences, the proposal improves the experience of site. For nature conservation, the proposal means an intrusion and how priorities have been considered are discussed in the final part of this work. Since the accessibility is a requirement for many people the conclusion is that we must provide a high level of accessibility measures in nature, at least for one representative area with certain nature experiences. The difficulty is to assess where accessibility should be prioritized over the protection of the nature.
