Abstract

På grund av den urbanisering som sker i världen idag har förtätning börjat prägla stora städers utformning. För att bygga en stad som klarar av förändringar och
som är attraktiv för människorna som bor där krävs det att den är hållbar. Syftet med kandidatarbetet är att tydliggöra problematiken kring begreppet hållbar
stadsutveckling och undersöka hur arbetet med hållbar stadsutveckling bedrivs i byggnadsprojektet Smaragden i Rosendal. En granskning av dokument från Uppsala kommun tydliggjorde Uppsala kommuns målsättning kring en hållbar
stadsutveckling. Intervjuer genomfördes med beställaren för projektet, Rosendal Fastigheter, och arkitektbyrån Christensen & Co. Metoderna bidrog med svar till
frågeställningen hur aktörerna har arbetat med hållbar stadsutveckling i projektet Smaragden med hänsyn till Uppsala kommuns riktlinjer. Resultatet från
dokumentgranskningen och intervjuerna bearbetades i en analys. Viktiga resultat från intervjuer visar att hållbar stadsutveckling inte har konkretiserats i detta projekt. Båda aktörerna har delvis utgått från Uppsala kommuns
hållbarhetspolicy men mest efter egen erfarenhet och intuition. Vi har kommit fram till tre slutsatser som är viktiga för arbetet med hållbar stadsutveckling.
Dessa slutsatser är att ha ett helhetsperspektiv och samverkan mellan aktörer, utforma konkretiserade riktlinjer samt politiska åtgärder. Begreppet hållbar stadsutveckling är svårdefinierat och medför därför svårigheter när det ska användas rent praktiskt.

Due to the urbanization occurring in the world today a more compact city has begun to characterize the city design. A city that is capable of change and is attractive to the people who live there, requires to be sustainable. The aim with this bachelor thesis is to clarify the problem of the concept of sustainable urban development and examine how the work towards sustainable urban development is carried out in a construction project called Smaragden in Rosendal. A review of documents from Uppsala Municipality clarified their goals with sustainable urban development. The client for the project, Rosendal Fastigheter, and the architect firm Christensen & Co were interviewed. These methods contributed to the answers about how the participants have worked with sustainable urban development in the project Smaragden with consideration to Uppsala County guidelines. The results from the document review and interviews were processed in an analysis. Important results from the interviews showed that sustainable urban development has not been made concrete in this project. Both participants
have partially used Uppsala Municipality’s sustainability policy but most of their work is based on their own experience and intuition. We have come to three
conclusions that are important for the work with sustainable urban development.
These conclusions are the following, to have a holistic perspective and collaboration between participants, to elaborate concrete guidelines and political measures. The concept of sustainable urban development is difficult to define and therefore difficult to be used in practice.
