Abstract

Att gestalta naturliga landskap i en urban situation handlar om att förstå parallella processer som pågår samtidigt; att se platsens förutsättningar och biotopens preferenser. Genom det skapas ett nytt sammanhang där beståndsdelarna blir aktiva i flera olika situationer och skalnivåer.
Denna tes har jag fått möjlighet att undersöka och fullskaletesta i TAKLANDSKAPET Sveavägen 44.
Arbetets syfte är att sammanlänka förståelsen för hur man kan applicera hela biotoper i ett sammanhang som gör att den levande biologiska delen av projektet bidrar aktivit till upplevelsen och till det arkitektoniska utrycket och formgivningen av platsen.
Slutsatsen är att man inte behöver se biotoper enbart som passiva byggelement eller komponenter. Det är biotoperna i sig som bär och leder konceptutvecklingen för idé, möjliga program och den potentiella inneboende formen.
Strategin att reducera och platsanpassa komponenterna ger också svaret i en annan skala: Fråga platsen vad den vill vara och du kan samtidgt se mönstret i ett större sammanhang.
Om man lyckas med formgivning som en öppen process med möjliga förändringar, utan att idén går förlorad, har man skapat ett öppet system; ett fraktalt system både i tid och rum.
Jag tror och hoppas att TAKLANDSKAPET Sveavägen 44 innehåller dessa kvalitéer och att arbetssättet kan inspirera till liknande angreppssätt i andra projekt.

Designing Natural Landscapes in an Urban environment is about handeling simoultaneous processes in action. To see the pre-conditions of the Site and the preferences of the Biotopes.
A new context emerges where the parts come active in many different situations and scales.
I had the opportunity to investigate this thesis and to do a fullscale test in the projekt TAKLANDSKAPET (The Roof Top Landsape) Sveavägen 44, Stockholm, Sweden.
The purpouse is to understand how to inject natural Biotopes into an architectural project and make the biological part to contribute to the experience of the architecture and directly influencing the design strategy.
The conclusion is you dont need to handle Biotopes only as a passive component in the designprocess. It is the Biotope that has the potential to lead and conceptualize ideas, programs and design from it´s inbound structure.
The strategy of reduction and adjustment to the Site can give the answer in another level: Ask the Site what it want to become and you might see the pattern in a bigger situation.
If you succed in designing in a open process with possible changes over time, without losing the basic idea, you have succeded in creating an open system; a Fractal Sytem working both over Time and Space.
I hope and belive that TAKLANDSKAPET posesses these qualitys and that this way of working with designprocess can inspire other projects to come.
