Abstract

Sveriges skogsindustri är beroende av skogsmaskinentreprenörer för råvaruanskaffning. För att trygga försörjningen till industrierna, effektivisera och förbättra drivningstjänsterna är det viktigt att företagen i branschen är lönsamma.

Syftet med den här studien är att identifiera hur lönsamma skogsmaskinentreprenörer i Götaland arbetar för att uppnå goda ekonomiska resultat. Med hjälp av gränsvärden för nyckeltalen avkastning på eget kapital, avkastning på totalt kapital, soliditet, nettomarginal och kassalikviditet identifierades de mest lönsamma skogsmaskinentreprenörerna. I en kvalitativ intervjustudie intervjuades företagarna om hur de arbetade med att leda sina företag, vad de ansåg vara den viktigaste framgångsfaktorn och deras syn på möjligheter till ökad lönsamhet. Tillsammans med tidigare studier formulerades faktorer och förbättringsområden som påverkar skogsmaskinentreprenörernas lönsamhet.

Resultaten visar att de intervjuade entreprenörerna valt att bli skogsmaskinentreprenörer på grund av den unika kombinationen av arbete, företagande och den frihet som erbjuds. Motiven tycks vara desamma trots att entreprenörernas bakgrund skiljer sig åt. För några av skogsentreprenörerna var lönsamheten inte det viktigaste målet. Alla var eniga om att lönsamheten i företaget var starkt relaterad till hur många veckor om året företagen hade full sysselsättning. Långa stillestånd kan leda till att kassalikviditeten och soliditeten i företagen snabbt försämras vilket leder till att betalningsförmågan blir sämre. Företagarna bör söka efter samarbetspartners och försöka bredda verksamheten för att bli mindre känsliga under perioder med låg sysselsättningsgrad.

Contractors play a key role in Swedish forestry providing the forest industry with raw material. To assure the supply to the industry and the development in the forest sector it is of importance that forest contractors are profitable. The purpose of this study was to investigate how profitable forest contractors in Götaland the southern part of Sweden are working to be able to reach good profitability. The most successful forest contractors were identified by a limit for the financial ratios return on equity, return on asset, equity ratio, net profit and liquidity ratio. In qualitative interviews the forest contractors were asked how they ran their company, what was in, their point of view, the most important factor to success and how they were reasoning developing their company to increase profit. With help from earlier studies and my result, factors and areas in need of improvement were identified that affect the profitability of the forest contractor.

The result showed that the respondents’ background varied greatly and the reason for being in the business were the unique combination between work and entrepreneurship. The profitability of the company was strongly correlated with number of weeks worked in a year. Long periods of downtime can lead to that the equity ratio and liquidity ratio of the company deteriorate quickly. The contractor must therefore work to upheld a high ability to pay in the company. Further it is of importance for the contractors to find potential collaborations and diversify the business to become less vulnerable in periods of low occupation.
