Abstract

Detta är en kandidatuppsats med samhällsvetenskaplig inriktning med fokus på människors egna berättelser. Fem intervjuer och observationer ligger som grund för denna studie som avgränsas till Öckerö kommun i Göteborgs norra skärgård. Jag vill med denna uppsats förmedla en känsla av öbornas vardagsliv och hur de själva ser på det. Med den fenomenologiska teorin belyser och analyserar jag informanternas egen livsvärld och tidsmedvetande. Hur de själva talar om dåtiden, nutiden och framtiden har en betydande roll igenom hela texten. För att belysa dessa informanters historier ytterligare används även begrepp som ”Hidden transcripts” och motstånd i resultatavsnittet.
Syftet med denna uppsats är att studera hur traditioner har förändrats i och med att förutsättningarna inom en viss näring har ändrats. En skärgårdskommun som Öckerö har länge präglats av fiske och det var under lång tid den absolut största basnäringen inom kommunen. I slutet av 1960-talet minskade fisket kraftigt på grund av överfiske och minskad lönsamhet. Fiskerinäringens utveckling påverkar naturligtvis en kommun som är så beroende av det. Jag vill visa på vad som förändrats och förändras i takt med den och hur invånarna själva väljer att berätta om det.

This is a bachelor thesis with social science orientation with a focus on people's own stories. Five interviews and observations form the basis of this which is limited to Öckerö municipality in the northern archipelago of Gothenburg. I want this essay to convey a feeling of the islanders' daily lives and how they look upon their daily lives. Relying on a phenomenological perspective, I highlight and analyze the informants’ own life-world and time-consciousness. The ways in which they talk about the past, the present and the future have a significant role throughout the text. To further analyze the informants’ tales I have also deployed the notions "Hidden transcripts" and resistance in the Results section of thesis.
The purpose of this paper is to study how traditions have changed as the conditions for a means of livelihood have changed. Fishing has marked the municipality which the islands constitute for a long time, and was by far the largest primary industry in the municipality during many years. At the end of the 1960s the fishing industry began to decline significantly due to overfishing and reduced profitability. Fishing industry development affects a municipality that is so dependent on it. In this thesis, I highlight what has changed along with it, and how the local residents choose to talk about it.
