Abstract

Med hjälp av den fenomenologiska teorin har jag sökt svar på hur fullblodsuppfödaren upplever sin situation och med hjälp av begreppet livsvärld har jag analyserat materialet. Genom Schutz definition av begreppet livsvärld har jag belyst fenomen och upplevelser i uppfödarnas vardagsliv. Jag har tolkat Schutz definition av livsvärlden som den bild av verkligheten så som den uppträder för informanten och de fenomen som har betydelse för deras vardag.
Efter att ha träffat och intervjuat fyra stycken fullblodsuppfödare i Mälardalsregionen har jag kunnat kategorisera nio fenomen som återkommer i samtligas livsvärld. De fyra uppfödarna har haft varierande åsikter och berättelser om de olika fenomen som jag kunnat uppmärksamma. De nio fenomen som jag kategoriserat utefter informanternas berättelser är ekonomiska villkor, drivkrafter, traditioner, gemenskap och utbildning, möjligheter inför framtiden, kvalitet, hinder inför framtiden, föryngring och nyrekrytering samt Svensk Galopp vilken är den organisation som svarar för den svenska galoppsporten i helhet. Med intervjuer som metodverktyg har jag presenterat hur svenska fullblodsuppfödare upplever sin situation och vad de anser vara möjligheter och hinder för sina verksamheter.

With the help of phenomenological theory I have sought answers to how thoroughbred breeders perceive their situation and I have analyzed the material thus collected with the notion of ’life-world’. By using Schutzs concept of life-world I have looked at several phenomena and the farmer`s everyday experiences. I interpret Schutzs definition of life-world as the image of reality as it appears to the informant and the phenomena that are relevant to their everyday lives.
Having met and interviewed four thoroughbred breeders in the Mälardalen, I have been able to identify and categorize nine phenomena that occur in the life-world of each of them. The four breeders have had varying stories and opinions about the different phenomena that I have been able to record. The nine phenomena that I categorized from the informant stories are economic conditions, incentives, tradition, community and education, opportunities for the future, quality, obstacles for the future, regeneration and recruitment, and Svensk Galopp the organization which administers the Swedish horse racing sport. With interviews as methodological tools I have shown how Swedish thoroughbred breeders perceive their situation and what they see as opportunities and obstacles for their businesses.
