Abstract

Detta kandidatarbete uppfördes vid Institutionen för stad och land, Sveriges
Lantbruksuniversitet, Ultuna, under vårterminen 2012 efter en introduktion till
projektet av Ramböll, Uppsala. Målet med studien var att undersöka hur det går
att underlätta för fotgängare och cyklister att röra sig utmed länsväg 255 på ett
säkert och trivsamt sätt, samt att undersöka vilken möjlighet landskapet har att
klara dessa förändringar. Ämnet knyter samman flera viktiga aspekter för en
landskapsarkitekt då arbetet behandlar en fråga som är viktig både ur gestaltnings-
och planeringsperspektiv samt har stor betydelse för samhällets invånare
och för naturens hållbaret. Då sträckan som studerades är nästan två mil lång
gjordes studien på en övergripande nivå med landskapets helhet i fokus.
I analysen lades särskild vikt vid visuella upplevelsevärden som kan uppfattas
i gång- och cykelfart, det vill säga stora landskapselement och variation av
naturtyper. Även perceptuella värden såsom fysisk bekvämlighet samt känslomässiga
upplevelser studerades. I detta syfte användes Landscape Character
Assessment som är en metod för att karaktärisera och bedöma landskap. Metoden
används idag i många länder, även i Sverige, men här pågår fortfarande utvecklingen
av landskapsanalysmetoder anpassade till just vårt land. I och med ratificerandet
av den europeiska landskapskonventionen har Sverige skrivit under på
att i sin planering ta hänsyn till landskapets värden samt att utnyttja dess resurser
på ett långsiktigt hållbart sätt. För att uppfylla konventionen behöver olika värden
och resurser lokaliseras inför nya projekt. Resultatet av min studie kan därför
också ge en indikation på om Landscape Character Assessment är användbar och
hur metoden ska anpassas i regionala projekt.
För att utföra analysen på ett korrekt sätt behövdes kunskap om områdets förutsättningar,
projektets omfattning samt om hur analysmetoden tillämpas. Denna
kunskap hämtades både från litteratur- och kartstudier, intervjuer samt besök på
platsen.
Studien begränsades till sträckan mellan stadsdelen Sävja i Uppsala samt
Vassunda i Knivsta kommun då dessa platser har planerade respektive befintliga
cykelnät att knyta samman med. Analyserna gjordes i första hand under dagtid,
då det beräknades vara tidpunkten som en framtida gång- och cykelvägen kommer
att användas mest.
Studien resulterade i ett förslag på dragning av gång- och cykelväg som ger
en positiv upplevelse genom ett tryggt färdsätt och ökad möjlighet att ta sig ut i
naturen samtidigt som förslaget tar hänsyn till landskapet som det ser ut idag.

This article was written for the Department of Urban and Rural Development,
Swedish University of Agriculture Sciences, Ultuna, during spring 2012 in collaboration
with Ramböll, Uppsala. The aim of this study was to examine ways
to faciliate travelling along road 255 for pedestrians and cyclists, so that thier
journy becomes safe and pleasant and to analyse the possibility landscape has
to cope with these changes.The aim of this inquiry was to find a place where
the experience of the landscape is favored at the same time as the interference
in the landscape is as small as possible. The subject ties together several important
aspects of a landscape. The article deals with an issue that is important
from a designing and planning perspective which is important for members of
the community and the sustainability of nature. The article was primarily aimed
for landscape architects, urban planners, commuters, residents, exercisers and
tradesmen in the area, but also those who are interested in Landscape Character
Assessment as a method.
The Landscape Character Assessment is a method for analyzing landscape
on the basis of visual and perceptual value. In this article the method was used to
conclude the best place for a foot path and a bicycle path between Uppsala and
Vassunda. In the analysis particular attention was given to visual amenity value
that can be perceived in walking and cycling speed which corresponds to large
landscape features and variety of biotopes. Futhermore perceptual values such
as physical comfort and emotional experiences were studied. Landscape Character
Assessment is also a method to characterize and evaluate the landscape, this
has proven useful for my purpose. Today the method is used in many countries,
including Sweden, but there is still ongoing development of landscape analysis
methods tailored towards our country. With the ratification of the European Landscape
Convention, Sweden has signed up to take account of landscape values and
to use its resources in a sustainable manner in planning. To comply with the conventions
different values and resources have been located for future projects. The
results of this study can therefore provide an indication of weather Landscape
Character Assessment is useful, and how it can be used in regional projects.
To perform the analysis properly required knowledge of the conditions of the
area, the aim of the project and how the method was applied. This knowledge
was gained from studies of literature and maps, interviews and site visits.
The study was limited to the distance between the cities of Uppsala and Vassunda
as these sites have both planned and existing cycling network to link to.
The analyses were primarily done in daytime, which was estimated to be the time
when a future pedestrian and bicycle path would be used most.
The study resulted in a proposal on the routing of a pedestrian and bicycle
path that offers a positive experience in case of safer mean of travelling, pleasant
views and better opportunities to get out into nature without affect the landscape
negative.
