Abstract

Pollinerande insekter bidrar med en rad ekosystemtjänster och är avgörande för den biologiska mångfalden och vår livsmedelsproduktion. Honungsbi (Apis mellifera) används i stor utsträckning i jordbruket, men även vilda pollinerare är viktiga för pollinering. Antalet pollinerare minskar globalt, och åtgärder för att motverka detta görs i både stor och liten skala. Småskalig biodling lyfts ibland fram som ett sätt att bidra till pollinering av våra grödor och trädgårdsodlingar. Då det finns potential för negativ påverkan på vilda pollinerare genom exempelvis konkurrens och smittspridning mellan honungsbin och vilda bin är det aktuellt att undersöka i vilken utsträckning de vilda pollinerarna ges utrymme i litteraturen som riktas till personer med intresse för småskalig biodling.
I denna rapport undersöker jag hur litteratur om småskalig biodling riktad till privatpersoner är utformad, samt utvärderar de kunskapsluckor som finns. Genom att sammanställa relevant forskning om biodlingens potentiella negativa effek

Pollinating insects provide a wide range of ecosystem services and are crucial for biodiversity and food production. Honey bees are often used to enhance pollination and increase yields in the agricultural sector, but wild pollinators are also important for pollination. Because of the global decline in pollinators, a wide range of conservation practices are being implemented. Small scale beekeeping is sometimes promoted to enhance biodiversity. Since there is potential for negative impacts with beekeeping such as competition for food and transmission of diseases to wild pollinators, it is relevant to investigate how the literature towards small scale beekeepers handles different aspects of honey bees and wild pollinators. The purpose of this study is to examine what literature for non-professionals with an interest in beekeeping covers, as well as identify existing gaps in these texts regarding wild pollinators. By synthesizing relevant research on the topic, the aim of the report is to highlight the areas where there is a gap of information for non-professionals. The result shows that although there is a lot of available information regarding wild pollinators and honey bees, the literature for non-professionals generally handles honey bees and wild pollinators as two distinct subjects. To shed light on the relevance of promoting both wild pollinators and honey bees also in small scale beekeeping, this report ends with a proposal on how practical aspects and research can be integrated into a management plan towards non-professionals, providing guidance on how potential issues on the topic can be managed and prevented.
