Abstract

Denna studie har först och främst inriktats på att lyfta fram vilken betydelse träd har för upplevelsen av landskap och vad för konsekvenser förlusten av dessa kan innebära. Det är själva upplevelsen som står i fokus och för att få en förståelse för den undersöks och klargörs vad som påverkar människors upplevelse av landskap. Människors relation till träd tydliggörs och kopplas samman med upplevelsen av landskapet. Därefter visas, med illustrationer, hur förlust av träd kan se ut och händelser som resulterat i sådan förlust diskuteras.
Det finns idag en allmän förståelse för ett kommande förändrat klimat och en allt snabbare förtätning av städer vilket sätter hårt tryck på träd både i urbana och rurala miljöer. Diskussioner pågår om detta kan vara anledningen till att flera av Sveriges inhemska trädarter drabbats av bland annat sjukdom som i många fall lett till död och även nedsågning. Förändringen detta leder till i landskapet är tydlig och därför kan det anses vara viktigt att belysa utmaningar samhället ställs inför då upplevelsen av landskapet påverkas och då också människor. Slutsatsen kan därefter dras att vi bör värna om träden som gör landskapet och människors relation till dem.

The main priority of this study has been to explore and emphasize the importance of trees when it comes to how people experience landscapes and what consequences the loss of those trees can have. The experience itself is the focus, and to get a better understanding of what our experience of landscape depends upon and is affected by, research is being made and explained. The relation people can have with trees is being clarified and how this relationship matters to the experience of landscapes. After that, illustrations show how the loss of trees looks like and events that caused such loss are discussed.
There is today a general understanding of climate change and the increasingly rapid densification of cities, both causing increased pressure on trees in urban and rural environments. There are ongoing discussions whether this is the reason for various diseases on indigenous tree species in Sweden, that in several cases has led to their death and ultimately being cut down. The most often significant change this loss of trees causes in the landscape is obvious and therefore it can be considered important that the challenges the society is facing as the result of a changed experience of the landscape, and therefore people, are being acknowledged. The conclusion is then being made that the importance of trees, the landscape they build, and the relation they are a subject for should be recognized and protected.
