Abstract

Sverige står inför flera utmaningar som måste ske på vägen mot ett mer hållbart samhälle, bland annat genom att fasa ut fossila bränslen och skapa hållbar energiförsörjning. Här har biogasproduktion potential att bidra till den gröna omställningen genom att det kan minska beroendet av fossila bränslen och stärka energiförsörjningen i jordbruket. Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka vilka attityder som finns till investeringar i biogas hos lantbrukare som byggt en biogasanläggning. Studien syftar även till att identifiera utmaningar och möjligheter med att bygga en biogasanläggning samt om lantbrukarnas intresse för ny teknik och innovationer är avgörande för deras investering. Detta för att skapa en djupare förståelse för hur biogas kan vidareutvecklas i Sverige. Studien baseras på nio intervjuer med lantbrukare som har en biogasanläggning på sin gård. Fokus har legat på lantbrukarnas upplevelser och vad de anser är de viktigaste förutsättningarna för att kunna investera i en biogasanläggning samt att hantera den. Fokus låg även på deras tankar kring biogasens framtid. Resultaten visar att lantbrukarna har en positiv attityd gentemot biogas och värdesätter möjligheten att producera egen el och biogödsel. Trots detta visar resultatet på flera utmaningar för att investera i en biogasanläggning, såsom höga investeringskostnader, osäker politik med kortsiktiga planer samt den osäkra el- och oljemarknaden. Lantbrukare med teknisk kompetens gynnas då deras färdigheter kan hantera driftproblem snabbare och undvika kostsamma stillestånd i biogasanläggningen. Biogasens mångsidiga förmåga att producera både energi och biogödsel påvisar att biogas kan spela en viktig roll i omställningen till hållbar energiproduktion. Långsiktiga politiska riktlinjer, ekonomiska stöd som Klimatklivet samt utveckling av infrastruktur för biogasdrivna fordon är avgörande för biogasens utveckling. Studien uppmärksammar även biogasens potential i jordbrukets beredskap genom att kunna säkerställa energiförsörjning och fortsatt produktion på gården vid eventuellt strömavbrott. För vidare forskning påpekas behovet av att undersöka biogasens geografiska skillnader då denna studie endast inkluderat lantbrukare från södra Sverige. Det vore även intressant att vidare undersöka möjligheterna att integrera biogas i Sveriges strategier för energiförsörjning och nationella beredskap.

Sweden faces several challenges that need to be addressed on the way to a more sustainable society, including phasing out fossil fuels and creating sustainable energy supplies. Here, biogas production has the potential to contribute to the green transition by reducing dependence on fossil fuels and strengthening the energy supply in agriculture. This study aims to investigate the attitudes towards biogas investments among farmers who have built a biogas plant. The study also seeks to identify the challenges and opportunities of building a biogas plant and whether farmers' interest in new technologies and innovations is crucial for their investment. This aims to provide a deeper understanding of how biogas can be further developed in Sweden. The study is based on nine interviews with farmers who have a biogas plant on their farm. The focus has been on the farmers' experiences and what they consider to be the most important prerequisites for investing in a biogas plant and managing it. The focus was also on their thoughts about the future of biogas. The results show that farmers have a positive attitude towards biogas and value the opportunity to produce electricity and biofertilizer. Nevertheless, the results show several challenges for investing in a biogas plant, such as high investment costs, uncertain policies with short-term plans and the uncertain electricity and oil market. Farmers with technical skills benefit as their skills can address operational problems faster and avoid costly downtime of the biogas plant. The versatility of biogas in producing both energy and biofertilizer demonstrates that biogas can play an important role in the transition to sustainable energy production. Long-term policy guidelines, financial support such as Klimatklivet and the development of infrastructure for biogas-powered vehicles are crucial for the development of biogas. The study also highlights the potential of biogas in agricultural preparedness by being able to ensure energy supply and continued production on the farm in the event of a power outage. For further research, the need to investigate the geographical differences of biogas is pointed out as this study only included farmers from southern Sweden. It would also be interesting to further investigate the possibilities of integrating biogas into Sweden's strategies for energy supply and national preparedness.
