Abstract

Andelen äldre i den framtida befolkningen förväntas öka, samtidigt som fler äldre bor kvar hemma av olika anledningar. Även om den äldre inte behöver stödet av ett vårdboende och vill leva ett självständigt liv kan ens olika förmågor försämras med åldern. Detta kan göra det svårare att röra sig längre sträckor från sin bostad. Som ung kan du lättare transportera dig till andra platser för att få en givande utomhusupplevelse, men för äldre kan detta då begränsas till bostadsgården. Därmed kan äldre vara en grupp som brukar bostadsgården mer och drar större nytta av att den har bra kvaliteter, jämfört med andra grupper. Forskning visar också att utomhusvistelse minskar risken för olika sjukdomar. Syftet med denna uppsats är därför att sammanställa olika aspekter av bostadsgårdens utformning som påverkar äldres användning, samt hur och om dessa implementeras av landskapsarkitekter i praktiken och vad de tänker om äldres roll på bostadsgårdar. Detta görs genom en litteraturstudie där olika aspekter av vad som kan skapa en givande och tillgänglig miljö för äldre identifieras och sammanställs. Samt tre semistrukturerade intervjuer med yrkesverksamma landskapsarkitekter om hur de arbetar med bostadsgårdar och hur de ser på äldres användning av dessa. Resultatet visar att det finns två teman vid gestaltning av bostadsgården: tillgänglighet och trygghet samt rekreation och stimulans. Intervjuerna visar på att äldre inte lyfts som grupp i någon högre utsträckning under processen av att planera bostadsgårdar mer än tillgänglighetsaspekterna. Det öppnar också för diskussion om bland annat hur utformning för äldre tangerar med andra aspekter av hållbar bostadsgårdsutformning. Samt huruvida äldre har andra behov av bostadsgården än vad övriga vuxna har.

The proportion of elderly in the future population is expected to increase, while more elderly remain living in regular housing for various reasons. Even if you do not need the support of a nursing home and want to live an independent life, your various abilities may deteriorate with age, making it more difficult to move longer distances from your home. As a young person, you can more easily transport yourself to other places to have a rewarding outdoor experience. For the elderly, that may have these difficulties, that experience can then be limited to the housing area. Therefore, the elderly may be a group that uses the housing estate more than others and therefore benefits more from the fact that it has good qualities. Research also shows that spending time outdoors reduces the risk of various diseases. The purpose of this essay is to compile various aspects of the design of the housing estate that affect the elderly's use. Also to investigate how and if this is implemented by landscape architects in practice and what they think about elderlies role in housing estates. This is done through a literature study where various aspects of what can create a rewarding and accessible environment for the elderly are identified and compiled. As well as three semi-structured interviews with professional landscape architects about how they work with housing estates and how they view the elderly's use of the housing estate. The results show that there are two themes to be identified when designing the housing estate, safety and accessibility as well as recreation and stimulation. The interviews show that the elderly are not especially thought after as a group to any greater extent during the process of designing housing estates, other than the accessibility aspects. It also opens for discussion about, how design for the elderly relates to other aspects and whether the elderly have different needs for the housing estate than other adults have.
