Abstract

På Värpinge äldreboende i Lund finns det en innergård tillgänglig för de
boende att vistas i, men innergården har under de senaste åren åsidosatts
och är inte längre en lika besökt, välskött och rofylld plats. Detta
självständiga arbete är en fallstudie, och ett gestaltningsförslag tas fram
som inspiration till möjliga förändringar av äldreboendets utemiljö. Genom
metoder som inventering av platsen och en enkät som de boendena får
svara på, utformas boendets utemiljö med avsikt att bli tillgänglig,
restorativ och estetiskt tilltalande för brukarna utefter deras behov och
önskemål. Vid enkätutdelningen studeras problematiken med den befintliga
utemiljön som gör platsen oattraktiv, och vilka förändringar gällande
utrustning-, material- och växtval, samt färg och form som hade kunnat tas
fram i en omgestaltning undersöks.
Det illustrerade underlaget stöds av en litteraturstudie, där även delar ur
välkända teorier inom utemiljöer kopplat till människan och psyket
används, som litteraturstöd till designvalen. Ett platsbesök genomförs även
som en metod förutom inventering, enkät och litteraturstudie, på ett annat
äldreboende för jämförelse och inspiration till den egna gestaltningen.
Gestaltningsförslaget illustreras genom plan-, sektions- och detaljskisser.
Vårt fokus med utformningen är estetiska värden, restoration, sensorisk
stimulation och tillgänglighet i utemiljön för en identifierad användargrupp.
Avsikten med utformningen är att skapa en attraktivare plats för brukarna, så
att de mer frekvent skulle vilja använda sig av sin innergård igen.
Några slutsatser som kunnat urskiljas ur metoderna som använts i arbetet
är betydelsen av både vila och kontakt som äldre. Vila i form av att befinna
sig i restorativa miljöer vilka främjar återhämtningen och den allmänna
hälsan. Kontakt i form av möten med andra människor, men även kontakten
med naturen genom användandet av sinnena.

At Värpinge nursing home in Lund, there is a courtyard available for the
residents to stay in, but the courtyard has been neglected in recent years and
is no longer an equally visited, well-maintained and peaceful place. This
independent work is a case study, and a design proposal is drawn up as
inspiration for changes to the outdoor environment at the nursing home.
Through methods such as an inventory of the site and a survey that the
residents can answer if wanted, the residence's outdoor environment is
designed with the intention of being accessible, restorative and aesthetically
pleasing to the users according to their needs and wishes. During the
distribution of the independent work, the problem with the existing outdoor
environment is studied, in what makes the place unattractive, and which
changes regarding equipment, material and plant selection, as well as color
and shape that could have been produced in a redesign are investigated.
The illustrated basis is supported by a small literature study, where also
parts of well-known theories in outdoor environments connected to humans
and the psyche are used, as literature support for the design choices. A site
visit is also carried out as a method in addition to the inventory, survey and
the literature study, at another nursing home for comparison and inspiration
for the own redesign.
The design proposal is illustrated through plan, section and detail
sketches. Our focus with the design is aesthetic values, restoration, sensory
stimulation and accessibility in the outdoor environment for an identified
user group. The intention with the design is to create a more attractive place
for the users, so that they would want to use their courtyard again more
frequently.
Any conclusions that could be discerned from the methods used in the
independent work are the importance of both rest and contact as an elderly
person. Rest in the form of being in restorative environments which
promote recovery and general health. Contact in the form of meetings with
other people, but also contact with nature through the use of the senses.
