Abstract

Syftet med den här uppsatsen är att undersöka vilken funktion gemenskap har i landsbygdens utveckling. Uppsatsen baseras på intervjuer och observationer kring och om småorten Huddunge i Heby kommun i Uppland. Metoden är av utforskande art, vilket innebär att begrepp och teori har valts efter insamlat material. Studien visar att gemenskap har flera funktioner, som att skapa tillit, tolerans och trygghet i Huddunge. Mötesplatser som skolan har en viktig funktion utöver utbildning. Den minskar det fysiska och sociala avståndet mellan olika grupper inom Huddunge.

The purpose of this thesis is to explore the function of community in Rural Development. The thesis is based on interviews and observations made in and on Huddunge locality, located in Heby Municipality, Uppland County. Hence since the method is an exploration of Huddunge, the concepts and theories were picked after the collection of data. The thesis shows that community has many functions, such as creating trust, tolerance and a sense of security in Huddunge locality. Places such as the local elementary school provides not only education, but also act as a meeting-point which serves to decrease the physical and social distance between different groups within Huddunge locality.
