Abstract

Målet med uppsatsen har varit attsammanställa en tematisk analys av argument för varför människor väljer att bosätta sig på landsbygden i en lågpendlingskommun. Detta har jag gjort genom att intervjua boende i en landsbygdsort i en lågpendlingskommun i Östergötland. 8 personer har blivit intervjuade för att höra deras argument för att bo på landsbygden. Alla av dem jag intervjuat har erfarenhet av att bo i staden, Norrköping och/eller Stockholm i olika grad. Jag har analyserat argumenten med hjälp av litteratur som tolkar landsbygdsboende kontra boende i staden. I uppsatsen går jag igenom ämnen så som: eget utrymme, naturen, trygghet, ekonomi, stress, avstånd, barriärer samt socialt liv.
Studien har visat att det finns många olika aspekter som spelar in när man väljer att flytta till landet. De olika informanterna har haft olika anledningar för att flytta men likande åsikter om vad som är det bästa eller viktigaste med landsbygdsboende. De huvudsakliga argumenten för att bo på den här specifika landsbygdsorten är: för att det är naturnära, för att familj finns nära, för att man kan ha hus med tomt billigare än i staden, för att det är lugnare och mer fridfullt än i staden och för att det är bättre för barnen att växa upp på landet. De viktigaste argumenten som informanterna framfört har styrkts i olika delar av litteraturen.
Det har även framkommit under arbetet att SCB:s definition av vad statistisk landsbygd är, är
missvisande. Att SCB beskriver landsbygd som allt som inte räknas till tätorter, blir missvisande.
Tätort är inte, och har aldrig varit, motsatsen till landsbygd.

The aim of this essay has been to compile a thematic analysis of arguments for why people choose to settle in the countryside in a low-commuting municipality. I have done this by interviewing residents in a rural area in a low-commuting municipality in Östergötland. 8 people have been interviewed to hear their arguments for living in the countryside. All of those I interviewed have experience of living in the city, Norrköping and/or Stockholm in different amounts. I have analysed the arguments with the help of literature that interprets rural living versus city living. In the essay I go through topics such as: a person’s own space, nature, security, finances, stress, distance, barriers and social life.
The study has shown that there are many different aspects that come into play when choosing to move to the country. The different informants have had different reasons for moving, but similar opinions about what is the best or most important thing about living in the countryside. The main arguments for living in this specific rural area are: because it is close to nature, because family is close, because you can have houses with land cheaper than in the city, because it is quieter and more peaceful than in the city and because it is better for children to grow up in the countryside. The most important arguments put forward by the informants have been substantiated in various parts of the literature.
It has also emerged during the work that SCB:s definition of what a statistical countryside is, is misleading. That SCB describes rural areas as everything that is not counted as “tätorter” (areas of a certain density, with a minimum of 200 people) is misleading. “Tätorter” are not, and never have been, the opposite of rural areas.
