Abstract

Syftet och målet med denna uppsats är att bidra med kunskap om hur Trekanten, en central parkeringsplats i Luleå, kan omgestaltas för att gynna social och miljömässig hållbarhet genom förbättrade förutsättningar för biologisk mångfald och stadsliv. Trekanten är en plats som ligger intill Luleälven i Luleås Norra hamn i gränsen mellan det stora älvrummet och stadsstrukturen. Platsen har bearbetats med utgångspunkt i dessa strukturer men också genom en historisk tillbakablick och samtal med Luleå kommun om Trekantens förändringspotential. Gestaltningen har inriktas mot att utveckla platsen till en park där gestaltningen styrs av en optimering av biologisk mångfald i kombination med goda förutsättningar för stadslivet. Särskilt fokus har lagts vid växtvalet, vegetationsgestaltningen och utformningen av platsens vistelseytor och sittplatser. Hänsyn har även tagits till att bevara utblickar mot Luleälven från Trekanten och dess omgivning. Trekantens centrala läge i Luleå gör att den har en pedagogisk potential för att visa hur stadsliv och biologisk mångfald går att kombinera i staden.

The purpose and aim of this thesis is to contribute with knowledge about how Trekanten (the Triangle), a central parking lot in Luleå, can be redesigned to promote social and environmental sustainability through improved conditions for biodiversity and urban life. Trekanten is located next to the Lule River in Luleås northern harbor on the border between the large river room and the city structure. The site has been processed on the basis of these structures but also through a historical review and conversations with Luleå municipality about Trekanten’s potential for change. The design has focused on developing the site into a park where the design is guided by an optimization of biological diversity in combination with good conditions for city life. Special focus has been put on the choice of plants, the vegetation design, and the design of the site's living areas and seating. Consideration has also been given to preserving views of the Lule River from Trekanten and its surroundings. The central placement of Trekanten in Luleå provides an educational potential to show how city life and biodiversity can be combined in the city.
