Abstract

Kattarp är en av de sju tätorterna på landsbygden med järnvägsstation som Helsingborgs stad planerar att utveckla. I Kattarp har ett antal områden förberetts för exploatering, men få aktörer vill köpa eller bygga bostäder i Kattarp trots att Helsingborgs tomtkö är lång. I denna studie undersöker jag, från en kvalitativ ansats med semistrukturerade intervjuer, vilka utmaningar och möjligheter unga vuxna i Kattarp ser i samhället. Jag har valt att kategorisera det empiriska materialet för att kunna analysera och tolka tre teman med hjälp av analytiska begrepp. Analysens utgår från informanternas vardagsliv och de analytiska begreppen handlingsutrymme, ontologisk trygghet, kapital och identitet används för att belysa problemområdet samt de möjligheterna och utmaningar som står i vägen för en ökad attraktivitet i Kattarp.

Studien visar att invånarna i Kattarp finner en trygghet i den kontinuitet som den lokala identiteten skapar i form av att de bor i ett tryggt område med en tydlig samhörighet. Vidare visar undersökningen att Kattarp som samhälle inte kan konkurrera med det handlingsutrymme staden besitter utan måste ta vara på de möjligheter som skapas av dess position i relation till andra omkringliggande områden. De utmaningar som unga vuxna uppmärksammar är att det måste finnas fler möjligheter till service och mötesplatser för att fler ska vilja bosätta sig i Kattarp. För att detta ska ske måste aktörer i form av invånarna i Kattarp, Helsingborgs stad, företag och banker samverka. Studien har således bidragit med ökad förståelse kring hur den lokala kollektiva identiteten utgör en möjlighet för Kattarp. Studien lyfter även fram hur en välfungerande samverkan mellan aktörer kan sprida bilden av samhällets möjligheter och gynna Kattarps utveckling.

Kattarp is one of the seven rural suburbs with a railway station that the municipality of Helsingborg intend to develop. In Kattarp, a number of areas have been prepared for exploitation, but few actors want to buy or build housing in Kattarp despite Helsingborgs long residential queue. In this bachelor's thesis I investigate, from a qualitative approach with semi-interviewed interviews, what challenges and opportunities young adults in Kattarp detect in their community. I have chosen to categorize the empirical material in order to be able to analyze and interpret three themes using analytical concepts. The starting point in the analysis is the informants' everyday life and the concepts of ontological security, acting space, capital and identity are used to highlight the problem area, the opportunities and the challenges that stand in the way for Kattarps attraction to increase.

The study shows that the inhabitants of Kattarp find security in the continuity that the local identity creates in the form of living in a safe area with a distinct affinity.
Furthermore, the study shows that Kattarp as a society cannot compete with the acting space the city possesses but must seize the opportunities created by its position in relation to other surrounding areas. The challenges that young adults are noticing is that there must be more opportunities for service and meeting places in order for more people to want to settle in Kattarp. For this to happen, actors in the shape of the inhabitants of Kattarp, the municipality of Helsingborg, companies and banks must work together. The study has thus contributed to an increased understanding of how the local collective identity is an opportunity for Kattarp and it highlights how a well-functioning collaboration between actors can spread the image of Kattarps opportunities and benefit Kattarps development.
