Abstract

Under 2015 ställdes Sverige inför en befolkningsförändring. En av konsekvenserna av krig och konflikter runt om i världens blev att mer än hundratusen flyktingar nådde våra gränser. I kontrast till flera andra länder i Europa välkomnade Sverige många människor som senare fick ett tillfälligt hem i någon av landets kommuner. Medan staten, genom Migrationsverket, hade ansvaret för mottagandet och asylprocessen föll ansvaret för en begynnande integration på kommunerna och framförallt civilsamhället.

Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka hur föreningar och eldsjälar arbetar med asylsökande, nyanlända och integration idag i relation till 2015 då flyktingströmmarna var som störst. Detta har jag granskat med hjälp av kvalitativa metoder genom intervjuer och observationer hos olika aktörer från civilsamhället i tre kommuner i Dalarna. Till min hjälp har jag använt mig av begrepp som tillhörighet, kulturell identitet och social tillit och med dessa undersöker jag hur engagemang skapats och upprätthållits. Det som tydligt kommer fram i den här uppsatsen är att integration inte skapas genom politiska mål utan genom medmänsklighet. Tack vare det har engagemang funnits och förändringar har kunnat ske. Det ideella arbetet ser annorlunda ut idag i jämförelse med 2015, men vägen till integration fortsätter.

In 2015, Sweden faced a population change. One of the consequences of war and conflict around the world was that more than one hundred thousand refugees reached the borders of Sweden. In contrast to several other countries in Europe, Sweden welcomed many people who later got a temporary home in one of the country’s municipalities. While the state, through the Swedish Migration Agency, was in charge of the asylum process, the responsibility for an incipient integration was put on the civil society.

The purpose of this thesis is to investigate how associations and enthusiasts work with asylum seekers, new arrivals and integration today in relation to 2015 when the refugee numbers were the largest. This I have done with qualitative methods through interviews and observations of various actors from the civil society in three municipalities in Dalarna. To my aid, I have used concepts such as belonging, cultural identity and civil trust and with these I investigate how engagement has been created and pursued. What is clearly stated in this thesis is that integration is not created through political goals but through humanity. Thanks to that, involvement has existed and changes have been possible. The non-profit work looks different today compared to 2015, but the road to integra-tion continues.
