Abstract

Det här arbetet belyser stationsetableringens roll i mindre orter. En stationsetablering skapar inte bara nya förutsättningar i form av förbättrad kollektivtrafik, utan skapar också möjlighet till andra former av utveckling, både lokalt i orten, men också regionalt i omlandet. En viktig aspekt i arbetet har varit att förhålla sig till både möjligheten att bevara ortens lokala karaktär och möjligheten till regional utveckling.

I arbetet har en empirisk studie genomförts i orten Veinge i Laholms kommun, Hallands län. Veinges tågtrafik drogs in 1963, sedan dess har järnvägen inte använts för persontåg. 2017 startade Trafikverket på uppdrag av Region Halland en åtgärdsvalsstudie för Markarydsbanan, vilken sträcker sig från Hässleholm till Halmstad via bland annat Veinge. I samband med åtgärdsvalsstudien planerar Laholms kommun för annan ortsutveckling i Veinge. Det empiriska arbetet syftar till att studera vilka möjliga kortsiktiga och långsiktiga effekter en stationsetablering kan skapa i Veinge, arbetet har behandlat tre olika skeden, den historiska kontexten, nutida kontext och framtidsförutsättningar.

Veingestudien baseras på tre olika metoder: inläsning och bearbetning av kommunala plandokument, en intervjustudie och två studiebesök. Tillsammans med en genomförd litteraturstudie och ett genomfört analysarbete med två referensplatser som idag har tågstopp, har ett resultat tagits fram och en diskussion förts kring vilka effekter en framtida station kan skapa i Veinge.

Studiens resultat visar på att stationens roll för mindre orter har förändrats över tid. Tidigare var människor bosatta och arbetade i samma ort, vilket skapade en tydligare samhörighetskänsla och en större lokal gemenskap. Idag ser människors levnadsmönster annorlunda ut, vi är inte lika koncentrerade till en plats, utan vi rör oss över en större geografisk yta. Med förbättrade kommunikationer öppnas det upp för fler möjligheter i bostads- och arbetsmarknadsregionen, gränserna blir flytande och regionen blir mer tillgänglig - det skapas regionförstoring. Studiens resultat tydliggör att vilka effekter en stationsetablering skapar, beror till stor del på hur det i samband med etableringen planeras för andra kommunala utvecklingsstrategier i orten.

This dissertation aims to illustrate the impact of the establishment of railway stations in smaller communities. A railroad station does not only provide new prerequisites for an improved public transportation, but also brings with it new possibilities for other forms of development, not only locally but regionally as well. An important aspect in the dissertation has been to relate to both the local character and the locality itself as well as the possibility of regional development.

In this thesis an empiric study has been conducted in the community of Veinge in the municipality of Laholm, Halland County. The railroad traffic ceased in 1963, and since then the railroad has not been in use for public transport. In 2017 the Swedish Transport Administration, on behalf of Region Halland, created an action plan regarding the Markaryd line, which extends from Hässleholm to Halmstad, passing through Veinge amongst others. In connection with the action plan, the municipality of Laholm is planning for other local development in Veinge. The empirical work aims to examine what short as well as long term effects a connected railway station could create in Veinge. This thesis has handled three different phases: historical context, present context and future intentions.

The Veinge study was based on three different methods: the reading and processing of municipal planning documents, an interview study and study visit. Together with other methods in the thesis, a literature study as well as an analytic study with two reference locations that currently has train stations, a result has been reached and a discussion has been brought about what effects a possible future railroad connection could create for Veinge.

The result of the study shows that the importance of the railway station for smaller communities has been changed over time. Previously people were residing and working in the same general area, which created a stronger bond and a stronger local kinship. In today’s society most people live by a different lifestyle, we are not as bound to a single location and we are traveling over a larger geographical area. With improved communications a lot of differing possibilities are opened in the housing as well as the labour market, borders become fluid and the region overall more accessible – the process of regional enlargement has began. The result of the study clarifies that the effects that a railroad station creates largely depend on what associated municipal development strategies are planned and executed in connection with the establishment of the station.
