Abstract

På grund av begränsningar i kunskap kring utformning av platser anpassade till ungdomar undersöks i detta arbete hur denna målgrupp i åldern 14-16 år använder offentliga platser. Nuvarande kunskapsläge undersöks genom en litteraturundersökning och kompletteras med en intervju med fem ungdomar för att få deras egen uppfattning. För en djupare förståelse kring ungdomarnas svar görs även platsbesök på tre av platserna som tas upp i intervjun. Uppsatsens fokus ligger på aktiviteter, placering och utformning och under intervjun fick ungdomarna kategorisera platser som positiva eller negativa samt utveckla varför. Sociala aspekter har medvetet undvikits för att bibehålla arbetets fokus kring den fysiska utformningen. En stor del av det lilla som skrivits i ämnet verkar fortfarande vara relevant. Trygghet, lokalkännedom och funktioner är viktiga aspekter i utformningen och jag har tolkat det som att ungdomarna lägger stor vikt kring dessa punkter. Så jag anser att det är viktigare att tillgodose de behoven vid utformning för ungdomar, än att lägga tid och pengar på platsens färg och form.

Because of a lack of knowledge regarding how to design public places directed to the adolescents, this essay examines how this target group, people in the ages 14 to 16 years old, use the public space. The existing knowledge base is examined through a literature study followed up with an interview with five adolescents in order to acknowledge there point of view. The interview is then supplemented with site descriptions of three sites mentioned during the interview for a deeper understanding of the answers. Focus is on activities, placing and the design of the places mentioned. During the interview the adolescents got to classify sites as positive or negative, followed up with questions that explained why. Social aspect where deliberately avoided in order to keep the focus of this essay on physical design aspects. The majority of what has already been written on the subject seems to still be relevant. Safety, knowledge of the surroundings and functions are important parts of the design that the adolescents value highly. So my opinion is that it is more important to cater for these needs when designing for adolescents rather than to put effort and money into the sites style and materials.
