Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify some clear indicators of private forest owners with a great need for advice. One large forest company in Sweden called Holmen Skog wanted to make sure that they bond the forest owners where the potential for sustained, good business is the largest. Through a segmentation of their suppliers Holmen got more information about their suppliers needs and management goals. The segments that stated a great need for advice were more interested to take part of the knowledge and experience that the timber buyers have. Women were more interested in advice than men in the study. Suppliers that own a forest property together with two other people or more, were generally more interested in advice than other. The forest owners do change all the time, and it is important to find new ways to interest the new generation of forest owners in an urbanized society.
