Abstract

Detta arbete belyser utomhuslekens betydelse för barns utveckling. Arbetet omfattar även hur en god lekmiljö utomhus kan byggas upp i ett gestaltningsförslag tillgängligt för barn med funktionsvariation. Utifrån detta undersöks även olika möjligheter till att kombinera en historisk plats med naturlek.

Uppåkra arkeologiska center är en utgrävningsplats belägen strax utanför Lund i Skåne. Det arkeologiska centret har som önskemål att omgestalta sin utemiljö. För att nå målet ska platsen bjuda in till naturlek med inspiration från Uppåkras historia.

Gestaltningsförslaget grundar sig i litteraturstudier vilka omfattar kännetecken för de bebyggelsenära miljöerna under Vendeltiden. Gestaltningsförslaget bygger även på hur barns lek i utemiljö uppstår samt vad som krävs för att skapa tillgänglighetsanpassade lekmiljöer. Resultat från litteraturstudien visar bland annat hur Vendeltidens landskap i Skåne kunde se ut med en växling mellan skogsområden, betes- och ängsmarker och åkrar nära bebyggelsen. Vi har vidare studerat litteratur som rör platsens historia med koppling till den nordiska mytologin, vilka blir viktiga element i gestaltningsförslaget.

De aspekter som enligt litteraturstudien inspirerar till utomhuslek är bland annat miljöer med varierande topografi, dynamisk rumslighet samt möjlighet till flera olika leksekvenser. Genom buskage, kullar och balanslek har dessa lekdelar inkluderats i gestaltningsförslaget. Det har varit av stor vikt genom arbetets gång att tillgänglighetsanpassa platsen så även barn med funktionsvariation kan interageras i leken.

Arbetet visar även att det är möjligt att sammanföra historiska och lekvärdesskapande aspekter till en fungerande helhetsmiljö för barn.

I det område som gestaltas ingår även en cafédel med en plats där besökare skall kunna slå sig ner och fika och vila med uppsikt över barnens lek. Det har varit en intressant utmaning att få ihop platsens olika delar och funktioner liksom beställarens önskemål på den begränsade yta som varit möjlig att använda.

The paper discusses outdoor play environments that are accessible for children of all abilities and are created with inspiration from history. The aim of the paper is to create a practical contribution in the form of a proposal for Uppåkra archaeological center.

Uppåkra archaeological center is an excavation site located nearby Lund in Skåne. The archaeological center has expressed a desire to change the existing outdoor environment and create a welcoming space where nature play and inspiration from Uppåkras history is combined.

The paper is based on a literature study focused on characteristic traits of settlements during the Vendel Period. The historic aspect is connected to theories on how child’s play in outdoor environments are created and the requirements to make play areas accessible for children of all abilities. The literature study identified meadows, farmland, and beech and hornbeam woods as the characters landscape in Skåne during the Vendel Period. To depend the historic understanding literature from the Vendel Period was studied, giving insight into the nordic mythology. Inspiration from the nordic mythology are key aspects in the proposal for Uppåkra archaeological center

The aspects identified in the literature study as being crucial to inspire children to play outdoors are environments with varying topography, dynamic spacial planning, and possibility for several play sequences. All identified aspects are included in the proposal by clever use of hedges, hills, and areas for jumping. Special consideration has also been taken in the proposal
to ensure a outdoor play environment where children of all abilities are able to participate.

In the area that is designed a café-section is also included, in this area visitors can settle down and rest with a view of the children’s play. It has been an interesting challenge to combine the different parts and functions of the area, as well as the wishes of the client on the limited area.
