Abstract

En grupp som ofta blir exkluderad i planeringen av den offentliga miljön är ungdomar mellan 13 och 18 år. Detta trots att möjligheten att umgås och tillbringa tid utanför hemmet eller skolan är extra viktig för just denna grupp. De är för gamla för lekplatser, men passar samtidigt inte in i vuxenvärldens aktiviteter än och stöter ofta på konflikter då de använder platser till annat än dess egentliga ändamål. Av denna anledning är det som landskapsarkitektstudent intressant att ta reda på vilken typ av platser ungdomar behöver och hur man kan gestalta för att få in dessa platser i det centrala stadsrummet, vilket är syftet med denna undersökning. Arbetet omfattar en litteraturundersökning om ungdomars preferenser i staden där olika faktorer tas fram för att senare omarbetas till kriterier. Kriterierna användes sedan i ett antal enkla principskisser över hur ett sådant, interaktivt, tillägg till ett stadsrum för ungdomar skulle kunna se ut. Utöver detta ges tre exempel på fungerande interaktiva stadsrum som används av eller har gestaltats med hjälp av ungdomar. Under undersökningen framkom att det som är viktigast för ungdomar är plats att umgås på, plats för skapande och fantasi, att det är gratis och lättillgängligt samt att det är nära till där människor rör sig. Detta gjorde att många av principskisserna resulterade i olika typer av alternativa sittplatser.

A group that is often excluded from the planning of the public environment is young people between 13 and 18 years old. This happens although the possibility of socializing and spending time outside the home or school is extra important for this group. They are too old for playgrounds, but at the same time they do not fit into adult activities, and often encounter conflicts when they use places for other than their real purposes. For this reason, as a Landscape Architect's student, it is in-teresting to find out what kind of places young people need and how to figure out to get these places in the central city space, which is the purpose of this survey. The work includes a literary survey of young people's preferences in the city, where dif-ferent factors are developed for later revision into criteria. The criteria were then used in several simple principles sketches of how such an interactive addition to a city centre could look like. In addition to this, three examples of functional interactive urban spaces, that are designed or used by young people. The study found that the most important thing for young people is the place to hang out, space for creativity and imagination, that the space is free and accessible and that it is close to where people are moving. This meant that many of the principle sketches resulted in different types of alternative seating.
