Abstract

Syftet bakom denna uppsats har varit att belysa och skapa en förståelse för en temporär dimension av landskapsarkitektur. Uppsatsen behandlar det temporära som ett gestaltningsbegrepp och undersöker hur det praktiskt skulle kunna tillämpas samt om det finns behov i staden av tillfälliga upplevelser. Arbetet baseras på en litteraturstudie och för att bekräfta denna utfördes även en lättare observation av en temporär installation. Resultatet tyder på att ett förändrat synsätt på staden och stadens rum är aktuellt. Det tillfälliga skulle kunna berika den sociala dimensionen, våra minnen och skapa mer kreativa stadsrum. Ändå är det temporära ett relativt teoretiskt begrepp som saknar en allmän definition. Ett mål med denna uppsats har därför varit att försöka finna en definition, och att påvisa möjligheterna som finns inom det tillfälliga.

The purpose of this study has been to highlight and generate an understanding of a temporary dimension of landscape architecture. The essay deals with the temporary as a design concept and examines how it practically could be used and if there is a need for ephemeral experiences in the city. The work is based on a literature review and to confirm the study an observation of a temporary installation was made. The results suggest that a change in mindset and approach to the city as well to the public space is relevant. The temporary aspect could enrich the social dimension, our memories and create more innovative urban spaces. However, the temporary as a concept lacks a general definition. One goal with this study has therefore been to make an attempt to find a definition, and to demonstrate the possibilities that exist within the temporary as a design concept.
