Abstract

Den här uppsatsen undersöker landskapsanalyser, i syfte att testa alternativa metoder in metoden landscape character assessment, LCA och bredda den bild som visas i en landskapsanalys. Uppsatsens problembild är främst baserad på Butlers (2014) forskning om LCA och representation, där det finns en skillnad mellan den teoretiska diskursen och den praktiska användningen. Utöver det lyfts även hur mängden och spridningen av geografisk data ökar och det fungerar som underlagsmaterial för strategisk planering. Med anledning av en bristande representation av brukare och ökad betydelse av geodata i landskapsanalyser är syftet med den här uppsatsen att undersöka och diskutera landskapsanalyser utifrån representation och deltagande i ett digitalt sammanhang samt hur det relaterar till den europeiska landskapskonventionen, ELC. Studien har genomförts med en teoretisk studie kring planeringsförutsättningar, rätten till landskapet genom representation samt sociala värden och vad som genererar social värden i omgivningen. Den praktiska delen av arbetet har bestått av en fallstudie och en intervjuserie. Fallstudien är genomförd i det norra hamnområdet i Malmö och består av en LCA-analys baserad på sociala värden. Intervjuserien består av intervjuer med praktiker som arbetat med deltagande och ger ett praktisk perspektiv till studien. Resultatet indikerar att landskap kan innehålla värden som vid en första anblick inte tros finnas på platsen och att det kan användas för att åter-representera ett område utifrån Europeiska landskapskonventionens ide om landskap. Slutsatsen från studien är att LCA-metoden kan ge förutsättningar för mer deltagande planeringsprocesser men är beroende på vad som stoppas i den samt att arbeta med social värden kräver ett alternativ tillvägagångssätt , där bottom-up perspektivet är nödvändigt.

This master thesis examines landscape analysis, due to explore alternative methods within the frame of the Landscape character assessment method and in a broader perspective base a landscape analysis of the people in a landscape. The issue of this topic is mainly based on Butlers (2014) research of how there is an indifference of the landscape concept in the theoretical discourse and the practical way of analyse a landscape. It is also addressed how an increased amount and spreading of geographic data contributes and affect what kind of information that is used in strategic planning. Therefore is the aim of this master thesis to explore and discuss landscape analysis from a perspective of representation and participation in a digital environment and how it relates to the European Landscape Convention. It have been done firstly by a theoretical study that highlights the context of a landscape analysis and public participation, the right to the landscape in landscape representation and finally social values and what generates values in the outdoor environment. Secondly have a case study been done at the northern harbour area in Malmö. The case study consisted of a LCA-analysis, based of a structural analysis, a activity analysis and an analysis of the historical attachment. Thirdly have also interviews been conducted, aiming an understanding of the practical situation. The results indicate that landscapes could include social values that would not been known without public participation and it could also be re-represented in a landscape analysis that is more likely to correspond to the reality and the ELC’s idea of landscape. The conclusion is that the LCA-method is useful, but working with social values also require a changed approach to planning, wheres the bottom-up perspective have to be encouraged.
