Abstract

Denna studie är utförd på svenska åttondeklassare och har som syfte att identifiera faktorer som påverkar ungas utbildningsval och undersöka deras uppfattning om lantbruksutbildningar för att hjälpa framtida marknadsföring av lantbruksutbildningar på gymnasienivå.
Alla elever i åttondeklass på en skola fick svara på en enkät med öppna frågor om lantbruksutbildning på gymnasiet. Frågorna handlade om vad de tror, tycker och tänker kring lantbruk och baserades på teorin om planerat beteende. En innehållsanalys gjordes av svaren för att få fram ungdomarnas attityd, normer och deras upplevda förmåga att kontrollera beteendet.
Det visade sig att ungdomarna var positivt inställda till lantbrukare och det jobb de utför och menade på att det är bra att det finns de som vill lära sig producera mat. Det var dock tydligt att de ansåg att statusen på yrken inom lantbrukssektorn och lantbruksutbildning på gymnasiet är låg. De hade också en tydlig uppfattning om vilka de tror väljer lantbruksinriktning på gymnasiet – de är uppvuxna på gård, med föräldrar som arbetar med lantbruk samt har ett eget intresse för lantbruk och dåliga betyg, precis som de tror att de som väljer att läsa ett annat program kommer från staden och vill bli ”något mer avancerat”. De upplevde att intresse för lantbruk var det viktigaste när det kom till möjligheten att gå utbildningen medan bristande intresse var det största hindret, för någon var avståndet till skolan även ett hinder då de ofta ligger lite avsides.

This study was conducted with Swedish eighth graders and the purpose of it is to identify the factors that influence young people's education choice and explore their perception of agricultural education to help future marketing of agricultural education at secondary level.
All students in the eighth grade at a school answered a questionnaire with open-ended questions about agricultural education in high school. The questions were about what they believe, think and their opinion about agricultural and were based on the theory of planned behavior. A content analysis of the answers was done to get the youth’s attitudes, norms and their perceived ability to control the behavior.
It turned out that the youths were in favor of farmers and the jobs they perform and argued that it is good that there are those who want to learn how to produce food. However, it was clear that they considered that the status of jobs in the agricultural sector and agricultural education in high school is low. They also had a clear idea of who they think choose agricultural as a major in high school - they are from a farm, with parents who are involved in agriculture and have an interest in farming and poor grades, just like those who choose to read another major are from the city and want to be "something more advanced”. When looking at the opportunities of attending the education, the interest in agriculture was the most important factor, whilst the lack of interest was the greatest obstacle. To some even the distance to school were an obstacle, since they are often in secluded locations.
