Abstract

Syftet med den här litteraturstudien är att undersöka hur stallhygienen och personal med djuröga påverkar produktionsresultaten och ekonomin i grisproduktion. Stallmiljön påverkar såväl djuren som människorna som vistas i miljön. Man har sett att personer som vistas i stallmiljöer löper högre risk att drabbas av luftvägsymtom och kronisk bronkit. Det är det organiska dammet bestående av bland annat djurhår, urin, fekalier, mikroorganismer, vegetabiliska partiklar samt andra partiklar som orsakar detta. Följderna av inandningen kan leda till feber, trötthet och huvudvärk och därmed sänkt arbetsförmåga. Hur stallen rengörs kan också påverka hälsan hos stallpersonalen då det vanligaste sättet att rengöra stall idag är med högtryckstvätt som genom vibrationerna kan orsaka skelett- och ledskador. Dålig hygien kan påverka djurens hälsa negativt genom ökat smitt-tryck. Det kan resultera i sämre produktionsresultat genom lägre foderintag och försämrat foderutnyttjande samt högre dödlighet. Olika produktionssystem och utfodringssystem kan påverka stallhygienen. En person med djuröga definieras som någon som är intresserad av djur och avel, ser att något är fel med djuren innan problemen får allvarliga konsekvenser, har god hand med djuren samt håller rent och prydligt i stallarna. Rapporterade studier visar att både hygien och personalens kompetens (djuröga) påverkar både grisarnas och djurskötarnars prestationsförmåga och därmed grisföretagets produktivitet och lönsamhet.

The aim of this literature review is to examine how the hygiene in swine housing and the stockpersons attitude and competence towards the animals affect production results and thus the profit. The hygiene in stables affects both the animals and the persons working there. Studies have shown that a person being exposed to the stable environment has a higher risk of respiratory disorder and chronic bronchitis than others. It is the organic dust containing animal hair, urine, microorganisms, vegetable particles, feces and other particles which causes these symptoms. The consequences of the exposure can lead to fever, tiredness and headache. The most common way to clean stables is by high pressure washer which also affects the health of the person performing it. The pressure washer causes vibrations which can result in bone and joint injuries. The animals are also affected by the hygiene thru the pathogen load. Poor hygiene can result in lower feed intake and reduced feed efficiency. Choice of housing feeding system can affect the hygiene. The attitude of the stockperson towards the animals can influence the production results. A good stockperson is defined by someone who has an interest in the animal and breeding, can detect problems within the herd before it gets severe, takes good care of the animals and keeps the stable neat and clean. Reported studies have shown that both hygiene and the competence of the stockperson affect the performance capacity of the animals as well as the stockperson and thus the production economy.
