Abstract

Målet med uppsatsen har varit att undersöka hur det går att arbeta med rekreationsvärden i en vinstdrivande produktionsskog, från plantering till avverkning. Uppsatsen är uppbyggd utifrån tre frågeställningar; Hur kan man utveckla produktionsskogar med högre rekreationsvärden? Hur påverkar en sådan utveckling den vinstdrivande produktionen? Vad finns det för regler och styrmedel inom skogsbruket idag och hur påverkar de rekreationsmöjligheterna? Med hjälp av frågeställningarna har ett försök till underlag för vidare utredning tagits fram. Arbetet syftar även till att förmedla en överblick för hur det är möjligt att som landskapsarkitekt arbeta med landsbygdens utveckling.

Första delen i uppsatsen är en litteraturstudie, här undersöks varför rekreation skall finnas inom produktionsskogen och vad som eftersöks i ett rekreationsområde. I litteraturstudien diskuteras även skötselmetoder, certifieringar och lagar. Sista delen i litteraturstudien undersöker vad det finns för kopplingar mellan rekreation och biologisk mångfald.

Andra delen i uppsatsen är uppdelad i tre underrubriker. En semistrukturerad intervju, där frågor som är förberedda sedan tidigare och svar på frågorna redovisas. En gåtur uppdelad i två rundor där anteckningar och fotodokumentation illustrerar resultatet. En ostrukturerad intervju i samtalskaraktär, där tankar och åsikter från den intervjuade förs fram. Syftet med del två har varit att förmedla skogsägarens syn på rekreationsvärden inom produktionsskog och använda den i vidare diskussion tillsammans med litteraturstudien.

Undersökningen visade att information skulle kunna bidra till högre rekreationsvärden inom produktionsskogen. Skogsägarna saknar kunskap om vilka rekreationsvärden som efterfrågas och de som vistas i skogen behöver få veta vilka åtgärder för rekreation som är rimliga för att skogsbruket skall fortsätta vara ekonomiskt hållbart. Undersökningar om hur utveckling mot rekreativa värden påverkar den vinstdrivande produktionen är idag få. Av de undersökningar som gjorts anses skärmhyggesbruk vara den metod som har bäst inverkan på både rekreations- och produktionsvärdet. Val av metod bör ske utifrån markförutsättningar för att produktionen skall utvecklas så bra som möjligt. I lagar och certifieringar får rekreation inte samma tyngd som till exempel biologisk mångfald, vilket betyder att andra värden prioriteras vid skötsel och planering. En beskrivning av tillvägagångsätt vid planering för rekreation hade kunnat gynna en utveckling av rekreationsvärden inom produktionsskogen och därmed göra den mer vistelsevärd.

The aim of this essay has been to examine how it is possible to work with recreation values in a profit-driven silvicultural forest, from planting to cutting. The content of this essay have evolved from three questions; How do you develop silvicultural forests with higher recreation value? How will a development of such affect the profit-driven production? What kind of regulation is there in the forestry today and how do they affect the recreation possibilities? With the questions as a solid base to start from, an attempt to draft for further examination has been made. The aim of this study is to give a general view of how it is possible, as a landscape architect, to work with the development of the countryside.

The first part of the essay is a literature study, where it is examined why recreation should be a part of the silvicultural system and what is sought from a recreation area. In the literature study different maintenance methods, certifications and regulations are discussed. The last part of the literature study examined what kind of connections there are between recreation and biodiversity.
The second part of the essay is divided into three subheadings. One semi structured interview, where prepared questions and the answers to the questions are displayed. One “walk and talk” interview, divided in two walks where notes and photographs illustrate the result. One unstructured interview similar to a conversation, where thoughts and opinions from the interviewed are brought up. The purpose with part two have been to convey the look at recreation values in a silvicultural system from a forest owner perspective and use it in further discussion together with the literature study.

The survey showed that information could contribute to higher recreation values in silvicultural systems. The forest owners today lack knowledge of what kind of recreation values that is sought. The visitors in the forest need to know what measures for recreation values that are economical plausible in the forestry. Inventories concerning the development to recreation values and how it affects the profit driven production, are today very few. From the inventories that are made, shelterwood systems were considered to have the best influence to both recreation and production value. Choice of method therefor should be made with the geological condition in mind, to improve the development of the production. In laws and certifications recreation are not given the same importance as biodiversity for example, do to this other values can be prioritized in management and planning. A description of a way to proceed when planning for recreation, would have supported a development of recreation values in a silvicultural systems and therefor contributed to the values worth visiting.
