Abstract

Idag är det vanligaste inhysningssystemet ett traditionellt stall med boxar och spiltor. Förutom detta system finns det även andra system som skulle kunna vara av intresse för hästägare som funderar på att bygga nytt eller bygga om befintligt stall. För att ge en helhetsbild av de olika inhysningssystemen så tas regler för dessa upp. Även en beskrivning av vad varje inhysningssystem innebär och enkla skisser på planlösningarna för att lättare se hur systemen ser ut och fungerar finns med i arbetet av samma anledning.

I en tidigare undersökning i ämnet hästhållning och inhysning av häst framkom att de flesta av hästhållarna hade ett traditionellt stall med boxar och spiltor. Anledningarna till detta ansågs främst vara att det var det enda som fungerade till inackorderings- och tävlingsstall som de flesta av hästhållarna hade. Även att det var boxar och spiltor som fanns på anläggningen vid tillträde var en stark anledning. Många av de tillfrågade tror dock att olika lösdriftsalternativ kommer att bli allt vanligare till häst i framtiden.

Det finns många förespråkare för traditionella stallar och färre för lösdrifter. Men efter att ha tittat på traditionella stallar och olika lösdriftsalternativ så kom jag fram till att de högteknologiska lösdrifterna är de som jag och fler med mig tror kommer öka i antal i framtiden. De främsta skälen till detta är den kraftigt minskade tidsåtgången och möjligheten att ta hänsyn till olika individers olika foderbehov.

Jag hoppas med mitt arbete kunna visa på de många fördelarna med lösdrifter och få hästbranschen att åtminstone börja fundera på alternativa inhysningssystem för våra hästar.

Today the most common housing system, for horses, is a traditional barn with boxes. In addition to this system, there are other systems that might be of interest to horse owners who are looking to build new or rebuild existing stables. To provide an overview of the various systems some rules for those will be attended. Also a description of what each system is all about and some simple sketches of the construction plans to easier see how the systems looks and works is included in the work for the same reason.

A critical review on a recent investigation about horse keeping and housing of horses revealed that the majority of horse keepers had a traditional barn with boxes. The reasons for this were considered to be mainly that it was the only thing that worked for boarding and competion stables, of which a majority of the horse keepers were. Another reason was also that the boxes already were there when the horse keepers accessed the facility. Many of those who were asked believed that different loose housing options will become increasingly common for horses in the future.

There are many advocates of traditional housing and less for loose housing. But after looking at traditional housing and various loose housing options I concluded that the high-tech loose housing options are believed to increase in number in the future. The main reasons for this are the drastically reduced amount of time and the opportunity to take consideration of different individuals and their different feeding requirements.

I hope to, with my work, demonstrate the many benefits of loose housing and get the equine industry to at least start thinking about alternative housing systems for our horses.
