Abstract

På flera platser i Europa har övergivna industriområden lämnats orörda och tillåtit
naturen ta över, platser som genom design sedan gjorts tillgängliga för människor i
form av så kallade urbana naturparker. Målet med uppsatsen är att beskriva ny vild
natur utifrån ekologiska, sociala och estetiska värden. Uppsatsen syftar till att besvara
frågan om vad forskning och praktiker säger om den nya vilda naturens
utvecklingsmöjligheter i stadens övergivna ytor. Vad finns det för attityder kring ny
vild natur och de platser den representerar i staden? Genom en litteraturstudie av
begreppet 'ny vild natur' behandlar uppsatsen begreppet och de faktorer som gör det
till en ny vild natur och vilka ekologiska, sociala och estetiska värden som påvisats för
ny vild natur i stadens övergivna platser. Resultatet av arbetet visar att ny vild natur
har flera viktiga värden och är platser som kan komplettera stadens grönytor genom
att tillföra en annan sorts naturupplevelse för stadsbor.

At several places in Europe deserted industrial areas have been left untouched and
allowed nature to take over, places that through design then been made available to
people in the form of so called urban wildlife parks. The goal of this paper is to
describe the new wild nature from ecological, social and aesthetic values. The paper
seeks to answer the question of what research and practitioners are saying about the
new wild nature and it’s development opportunities in the city's abandoned spaces.
What are the attitudes towards new wild nature and the places they represent in the
city? Through a literature study of the concept of 'new wild nature' the paper deals
with the factors that make it into a new wild nature and the ecological, social and
aesthetic values identified for the new wild nature in the city's abandoned sites. The
result of this work show that the new wild nature presents several important values
and is places that can complement the city's green spaces by adding a different kind of
nature experience for urban dwellers.
